There’s only a few weeks left to my trip back home to Nigeria and I started kicking up the intensity of my training. I ran 5 miles yesterday, the farthest I’ve ever run. I did it in about 44 minutes. I was very happy that I finally got over the mental block that I had for running. I always hated running. It always felt so mundane and boring. I also didn’t like doing it because it was something that I had to do for fighting. Now, I do it just to test myself; to see how far I can go. My goal is to run a 10K (6 miles), three time a week.

I woke up this morning feeling strong and without pain. I made sure to stretch and drink plenty of water before going to bed. My hip flexors have always been tight and got worse with boxing. In the past, the tightness would cause a lot of pain in my knees. I found that stretching my hip flexors and quads guranteed that I didn’t have any pain. There was a time that I felt that the pain would never go away, but then again, I didn’t stretch. I took a 6am spin class at Fly Wheel Sports NYC. I then went over to Peak Performance NYC did a heavy chest and abs workout. That was tough, but I loved it. All this cardio is making much leaner. I want to look my best for my trip to Nigeria and all this hard work will pay off.

There is no easy way out. If you want results, you have to work hard for it!!
