NGO OKAFOR STARS OPPOSITE JONAH HILL AND JAMES FRANCO

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-

NGO OKAFOR STARS OPPOSITE JONAH HILL AND JAMES FRANCO IN “TRUE STORY”, PRODUCED BY BRAD PITT

New York, New York, May 13th, 2013—The star meter for the most downloaded black male model,  Ngo Okafor, continues to skyrocket. Okafor’s body of work as an actor is stacking up at a furious pace. Ngo has just wrapped shooting his part in the feature film, “True Story”, opposite Hollywood heavy hitters Jonah Hill and James Franco. “True Story” is produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment. Ngo Okafor plays the part of Ibrahim, an Ibo (Nigerian language) translator, in the film.

“True Story,” an adaptation of New York Times journalist Michael Finkel’s 2006 memoir of the same name, chronicles Finkel’s discovery that his identity had been stolen by Christian Longo, a fugitive who was placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted list after murdering his family and fleeing to Mexico. Hill is portraying Finkel on screen, with James Franco playing the role of Longo.

Mr. Finkel was banished as a contributing writer for The New York Times in early 2002 for faking much of a magazine cover storyabout the travails of a young African plantation worker, who turned out to be a composite. Seeking redemption, he quickly struck up what proved to be a mutually exploitive relationship — mixing friendship, journalism and some bizarre exploration of shared reality — with one Christian Longo.

Mr. Longo had just murdered his wife and three children in Oregon. And then, improbably, Mr. Longo assumed Mr. Finkel’s identity as he went on the lam outside the United States.

JASON KIDD CHARGED WITH DWI

New York Knicks point guard Jason Kidd was arrested early Sunday and charged with a misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated, according to Southampton Town police.

A police spokesman said Kidd was involved in a single-car accident in which his 2010 Cadillac Escalade struck a telephone pole and went into the woods in hamlet of Water Mill at around 2 a.m. Water Mill is a serene, mainly residential community east of Southampton Village.

Kidd, 39, suffered minor injuries, according to the spokesman, and was treated at Southampton Hospital. He was then transferred to police headquarters to be processed. He was held for arraignment Sunday morning and was released on his own recognizance.

“Jason was involved in a single vehicle accident on his way back home from a charity function last night,” Kidd’s attorney, Ed Burke Jr., said in a statement. “He suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital. Jason has pleaded not guilty to a DWI charge and awaits further court proceedings.”

Police did not say whether Kidd had taken a breathalyzer test.

Kidd’s agent didn’t immediately respond to phone or email messages from The Associated Press. The Knicks, who signed the 10-time All-Star in free agency this week, had no immediate comment.

Kidd’s next court date wasn’t immediate available. The DWI charge carries the potential for up to a year in jail.

The Knicks signed Kidd away from the Dallas Mavericks this week in a deal that will pay him about $3 million a year. Kidd had played in New Jersey, leading the Nets to two NBA Finals appearances, before being traded to Dallas and remains fond of the New York City area, where his children continued to live.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist has been in trouble with the law before. While playing with Phoenix in 2001, he was arrested on a domestic violence charge, acknowledging that he struck his former wife.

Kidd is second on the NBA’s career list in assists and steals. The Knicks believe Kidd, who helped the Mavericks win the 2011 NBA championship, would be a good mentor to point guard Jeremy Lin if the team opts to keep him.

JEREMY LIN UPSET WITH THE NEW YORK KNICKS

Do the New York Knicks have to patch things up with Jeremy Lin?

According to a report by the New York Daily News, Lin is upset that the Knicks didn’t offer him a new contract before the Houston Rocketscame calling with a lucrative offer sheet.

Lin has verbally agreed to sign a four-year offer sheet with the Rockets. The deal reportedly is worth $28.8 million, with  $10.2 million coming in the first two seasons and over  $9 million in each of the last two.

Despite the Knicks insisting they would match the Rockets’ offer, Lin still feels slighted, according to the Daily News.

“He was surprised that the Knicks didn’t make the first move,”  a league source told the paper. “They know they’ve got to mend  some fences with him because he believes what the Rockets  have told him, that the Knicks weren’t as interested as they  are.”

Lin refuted the Daily News report by tweeting, “Lol why do u guys believe everything? No quotes from me = probably not true.”

The Rockets had Lin in training camp last season, but waived him because they already had Kyle Lowry and Goran Dragicon their roster. Now that they’ve traded Lowry to Toronto,  and with Dragic headed to Phoenix, Houston is trying to get  Lin back.

However, Lin is almost certain to return to the Knicks, who can match the offer as early as Wednesday.

“They will match any offer on Lin up to 1 billion dollars,”  a source told ESPN.com’s Marc Stein.

Lin made $788,000 last season when he averaged 14.6 points,  6.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 35 games with 25 starts  before his campaign was cut short because of surgery to  repair torn cartilage in his knee.

“What he has to learn is that it’s not personal,” the source told the Daily News.”The Knicks merely played by the rules.”

Lin, who went undrafted out of Harvard, became a sensation with a  remarkable stretch in February, scoring at least 20 points in nine  of 10 games. A high point of that span came Feb. 10, when he scored  38 points and had seven assists in a 92-85 win over the Lakers.

Lin’s expected signing will highlight a busy offseason for the  Knicks, who have reached an agreement with veteran  playmaker Jason Kidd to back up Lin while reaching a  sign-and-trade agreement to bring center Marcus Camby back to New York. J.R. Smith and Steve Novak also are expected to ink new deals.

NORA EPHRON, NOVELIST,FILMMAKER, SCREENWRITER, DEAD AT 71

Novelist, filmmaker and screenwriter Nora Ephron has died after a battle with leukemia, her publisher said Tuesday. She was 71.

“She brought an awful lot of people a tremendous amount of joy. She will be sorely missed,” said the statement from Alfred A. Knopf.

Ephron’s romantic comedies included the box office hits “When Harry Met Sally” and “Sleepless in Seattle,” both of which earned her screenwriting Oscar nominations.

She was also nominated for an Oscar for writing “Silkwood,” the story of anti-nuclear activist Karen Silkwood.

Ephron, known for creating strong female characters in her stories, wrote and directed “Julie & Julia,” which earned Meryl Streep a best actress Oscar nomination in 2010.

Ephron’s parents, Henry and Phoebe Ephron, were also screenwriters, with “Carousel,” “Desk Set” and “There’s No Business Like Show Business” on their resumes.

“They were funny and they believed that everything was copy,” Ephron said in a CNN interview in 2009. “They believed that anything in life could be turned into a story, which is really the first rule of humor.”

Ephron’s life was particularly central to her father’s memoir, “We Thought We Could Do Anything.”

Humor was important for surviving her childhood, she said.

“I don’t think you can get through almost anything without humor,” she said.

She married screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi in 1987, eight years after she divorced investigative reporter Carl Bernstein.

The destruction of her marriage to Bernstein was the basis of her book and movie “Heartburn.”

“And I feel bad for the people who don’t at some point understand that there’s something funny in even the worst things that can happen to you,” Ephron said.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the stories Ephron set in his city are classics.

“The loss of Nora Ephron is a devastating one for New York City’s arts and cultural community,” Mayor Bloomberg said in a statement. “From her earliest days at New York City’s newspapers to her biggest Hollywood successes, Nora always loved a good New York story, and she could tell them like no one else.”

BREAKING NEWS: INVESTORS SUE MARK ZUCKERBERG, FACEBOOK AND MORGAN STANLEY

Damn Mark!! Mark Zuckerberg has gone from his best week ever to the worst week ever in less than 72 hours. Read more

Three investors sued Facebook and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday, along with lead underwriter Morgan Stanley and a host of other underwriters, accusing them of withholding negative information about the social network’s initial public offering.

“It appears as though material information was not disclosed,” said Robert Weiser, one of the plaintiff lawyers in the class action suit. “We believe that the offering was conducted unfairly and it harmed public stockholders.”

The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in Manhattan.

According to a report published by Reuters, Morgan Stanley (MS, Fortune 500) shared a negative assessment of the social network with major clients ahead of Facebook’s (FB) IPO, which debuted last week.

The lawsuit states that “certain of the underwriter defendants” estimates for how Facebook would perform in the second quarter and for the full year.

The “revisions were material information which was not shared with all Facebook investors, but rather, was selectively disclosed by defendants to certain preferred investors and omitted from the registration statement and/or prospectus,” the plaintiffs claim.

TIME TO RUMBLE!

It’s monday morning and time to get going. >>>>We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty’s glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare>>>> I would like to thank William Henry Davies for that old school poem. It brought me back to my childhood.

But seriously though, it’s a new week. It’s hustle monday. My trip to Nigeria taught me how to manage meetings. In Nigeria, we sometimes had 8 meetings in a day. We were hustling. Running around in the heat builds character. It definitely did that for me.

Now that I’m back in NYC, I have been applying the stamina that I built from Nigeria to my meetings here. In the past,I had a two meeting attention span maximum! But today, I have scheduled 5 back-to-back meetings today. I will run over to the gym and workout between meetings. I scheduled the meetings close to the gym, so that I wouldn’t have to travel far to get my workout in.

That, my friends, is how it has to be done. I have a huge project on my hands in Nigeria and this is no time to slow down.

How is your hustle day going?

BACK IN NEW JACK CITY!!!

I got back to New York City yesterday afternoon with mixed emotions. I miss Nigeria. I miss all the work we were able to do. I miss the weather. I miss Nigerian  food. I miss Maduka, Samantha and Oge and Kaobi. I miss Ogbogu’s kids, Neville, Angel, Neugent and Allethea. I miss Ogbogu’s wife, Agnes. But I was happy to come home. I had been away for a long time had to tend to all this mail mail and bills. I had to switch my mind from the Nigeria grind to the New York grind. They are very different.

I got off the plane feeling like my muscles had all deflated. I hadn’t worked out for one week straight. That is unheard of for me. I didn’t even do pushups! That’s crazy!! Once I got off the plane, I took a taxi to the gym. I must have looked crazy bringing all my luggage to the gym. I took the picture on left at the gym after my workout. So much of fitness is mental because my muscles don’t look deflated at all. It makes sense for it to be mental because if your mind wills it, your body will follow.

I have to run out. I’m getting on a plane in a few hours. I’ll write again from there

TIM TEBOW TO NEW YORK, NOT ABOUT WINNING, BUT ABOUT MONEY

That didn’t take long. NFLShop.com is already selling Tim Tebow Jets jerseys online for $84.99. Tebow’s No. 15 Broncos jersey has been one of the NFL’s best-sellers the past two seasons. Look for sales of his new Jets jersey to take off as he plays in the country’s largest media market.

Tim Tebow hasn’t even picked a number and his jersey is selling like crazy!! It’s been estimated that Tim Tebow sold between 4 and 5 million jerseys while in Denver. If we do some quick mathematics, even if the Jets make a profit of $25 per jersey, they will make $100,000,000 by selling 4 million jerseys in just one year. That my friends is what it’s all about.  That is more money than Tim Tebow will ever make in his entire career as a football player!!

So called sports specialists have been going on and on about how bad the idea to bring Tim Tebow to the New York Jets is, but none of them have talked about money. Many owners are in football for the money and perks of being an owner of a professional sports team. Many of these teams lose money, so when a business savvy owner sees an opportunity to actually make a massive return on their investment, you better believe that they will jump on it. It’s very simple. The New York Jets are planning a press conference for Tim Tebow, the backup quaterback. No one does a press conference for a back up quaterback if they are not planning to make a boat load of money from them. The press conference will spike the sales of the jerseys. At the press conference, Tim Tebow will select a number and hold up his New York Jets jersey and firestorm of sales will begin.

It’s all about the money people!!!

I LOVE NY!

I suffered a set back yesterday while sparring. I hyper-extended the elbow joint in my left arm. I felt the sharp pain, but continued to spar and doing drills. When the adrenaline started to wear off and my body started to cool down, I felt like my arm was broken or at least tore a major muscle in my arm. I couldn’t move my arm. I throw so many jabs and left hooks for offense and defense. It’s so frustrating. I’m going to try to spar today and use just my right arm and work hard on defense.

I was rushing to a meeting, as usual in  NYC. I happened to look down and saw this quote written in chalk on the side walk. I had to stop and take a picture of it. Even in NYC, we have to stop and smell the roses….even though there are no roses on the sidewalk. Everybody is always rushing to go somewhere and everywhere, that they don’t stop to smell the roses. There is so much beauty that we miss because we are always rushing. The quote was “BECOME YOUR DREAM”. I live for this quote. It really just sums up my entire existence. I hope you feel it too.

I do love the energy of this city though. When I lived in Connecticut, I dreamt of moving to NYC. People work so hard here. The hustle mentality is so alive and infectious here and I love it

I LOVE NY!!!

NEW YORK STATE OF MIND

As the saying goes, if you can make in New York, you can make it anywhere. That holds true for every of business. There are over 8 million in New York City and are all packed in a small area of of land sitting on an island. You have got to be strong to make it here. The best of the best come here to make it. All the local champions from every part of the world comes to NYC to shine. More power to all of them. The most beautiful, the smartest, the toughest…get your shine on!!

At the same time, that toughness of the city has crushed most dreams. I know many guys and girls who were the most beautiful in their town and came here to make it big only to find out that everybody is just as beautiful, sometimes more so. They think that they are going to come and easily conquer the modeling world (my direct experience) or conquer the finance or legal world. Many of them have never shared the spotlight and when they are forced to do so, they crumble, give up, pack up and go home. That is why I respect anyone who has moved to NYC and has stayed because you have to possess that non-stop hustle mentality to make it.

This same hustle should apply to anywhere in the world. The work that it takes to fulfill dreams should be endless. Even in the parts of the world where life is not as difficult, the hustle mentality will get you to your goal.

KEEP SHINNING…WITH THAT NEW YORK STATE OF MIND
