JORDAN DAVIS,17 YEAR OLD, SHOT BY MICHAEL DUNN FOR PLAYING LOUD MUSIC

A Florida man was denied bond Monday on a murder charge stemming from a weekend shooting that started with a complaint about loud music and ended with a teenager dead.

A statement by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office described a Friday-night confrontation in a gas station parking lot that escalated into at least eight shots being fired at a car carrying a group of teenagers.

Seventeen-year-old Jordan Davis, among the teens, was fatally wounded. Forty-five-year-old Michael Dunn of Brevard County, Florida, was arrested Saturday and charged in the fatal shooting.

According to the statement from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Dunn told authorities that he had asked the teens to turn down loud music from their vehicle adjacent to his, as he waited while his girlfriend, who was returning with him from a wedding, went inside the gas station to make a purchase.

Dunn told police he felt threatened by the response from the teens, the statement said.

Dunn’s attorney, Robin Lemonidis, told CNN Monday that Dunn told police that he reacted after having seen a gun barrel in the window of the teens’ car and after hearing a profanity-laced string of threats against him and his girlfriend while the teens motioned they were opening the door.

Lemonidis said that was when Dunn reached for his gun and opened fire on the vehicle. She added that, “When all the evidence has been flushed out, I believe that it will be extremely clear that Mr. Dunn acted as any responsible firearm owner would have under the same circumstances.”

Eight or nine shots were fired at the teens’ car, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office statement added.

There were no guns found inside the teens’ car, the statement said.

Lemonidis said her client and his girlfriend left the scene after the shooting, fearing that they had encountered gang members and that more would follow.

The couple went to a local hotel for the night, and saw the news the next morning that Davis had died. They returned to Dunn’s home in Brevard County, where local police arrested him Saturday on an out-of-county warrant.

Dunn was arraigned Monday afternoon, and Lemonidis said she entered a not-guilty plea on her client’s behalf.

Ron Davis, the victim’s father, told CNN affiliate WAWS that he wants to see justice, “Whether it be through the legal system or to God. God’s going to punish him for that, so me, I don’t want to do anything to him.”

SPOTIFY STUDY SHOWS MUSIC IS MORE AROUSING TO WOMEN THAN TOUCH

Couple kissing by Ngo Okafor www.getingo.com

DAMN!! All that time that we, men, spent perfecting that special touch. All those countless hours of practice, spent, in an effort to close the gap on the lesbian advantage. Now a new study shows that all we should have done was play a song for the ladies and the deal will be sealed….Damn you Marvin Gaye….Damn you Lionel Richie!!! Well, maybe not completely. Music does make her loose control!!The study was commissioned by digital music service Spotify to examine the relationship between music, romance and seduction.

“Dirty Dancing” was the top pick for both men and women, although the study’s author, music psychologist Daniel Mullensiefen, also pointed out that men are more willing to adjust their tastes in music in order to ensure “greater success in the bedroom.”

Well played, gentlemen.

Another surprise finding? Respondents said music playing in the background is 40% more likely to turn them on than the touch or feel of their partner.

Rather not listen to “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” during sex? Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” placed second on the list, with Ravel’s “Bolero” finishing third.

“It’s no surprise that so many respondents claimed to find music arousing in the bedroom,” Mullensiefen said in a release. He said music activates the same pleasure centers of the brain that respond to rewards such as food, drugs or sex.

One in three participants identified Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” as a song that is “better than sex.” Next on the list was “Sex on Fire” by Kings of Leon and “Angels” by Robbie Williams. Mullensiefen describes these as songs that take unexpected turns that we respond to in highly emotional, but positive, ways.

The study interviewed 2,000 people in the United Kingdom between the ages of 18 and 91, with an almost equal gender split.

Mullensiefen is co-director of the Master Program in Music, Mind and Brain and senior lecturer in the department of psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London.

He said even though some UK pop hits were favorites coming out of the study, he believes many results would also hold true in the United States. Mullensiefen said the best tracks for getting in the mood all possess similar vocal qualities, like a wide, dynamic range, more use of the “high chest voice” and raspiness. He offers Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” and “Let’s Get it On” as examples.

HOT NEW VIDEO: P-SQUARE ft RICK ROSS – BEAUTIFUL ONYINYE (GIFT)

It’s a beautiful morning. I woke up and made my usual rounds to all the news outlets and blogs and I saw a post featuring the music video of a song by P-Square (one of the largest hip hop acts in not just Nigeria, but in Africa) featuring Rick Ross. This immediately grabbed my attention.

I like a lot of the songs from the very talented P-Square (they are twins, Peter and Paul). Everybody knows I love Rick Ross, many of his songs belong on “my ready fo war” soundtrack. The song is titled “Beautiful Onyinye”. Onyinye means “gift” in the Nigerian Igbo language. The song is fresh and the video is cool. Akon even makes a cameo appearance in the video which was shot in Miami. Check it out below.

CHARLY BOY – I’M GAY….THIS IS NOT NEWS TO ME

From Nairaland Forum:

Controversial maverick entertainment personality, Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has set another record with his confession that he is gay. By so confessing, he becomes only the second publicly known gay man in Nigeria. Any where else in the world, this would not be a big deal. I’ve been reading different blogs on this and people refuse to believe that Charly Boy is indeed gay. They think that it is a publicity stunt. That makes absolutely no sense. If a man tell’s you what he is, it is what it is! Since when did being gay become a ploy for publicity?

Pastor Rowland Macaulay beat him Charly Boy to the punch by being the first Nigerian to openly come out and even establish a church that catered for only gay people.

Those who know Charly Boy well however say he’s not someone who likes being a follower. He’s always a leader in everything he does and he’s now ready to take his rightful leadership position in the gay world. In an interview with a new publication, Danfo Express, Charly Boy declared that he is gay and not ashamed of being gay.

SEXY IS BACK FOR REAL! YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS

D’angelo was the inspiration for the cover of my first calendar and he is back!!

Click the image to open in full size.

It  looks as though D’Angelo is back and looking better than ever! He’s currently  featured in a 6 page feature in GQ Magazine’s June Issue, complete with new  photos and news that he may drop a new album this September (just in time for  The Grammy deadline). However, the article is quick to note that he has over 50  songs in the works and he is working at his own pace which could possibly mean, ‘don’t get your hopes up’. This will be his first album in 12 years. 12  YEARS!!!
In the article, D’Angelo addresses everything from rumors  surrounding his departure from the music scene (which somehow had everything to  do with D’Angelo’s ‘Untitled’ video) to his constant dreams about the late  artist Marvin Gaye. There’s also commentary from Quest Love, Chris Rock, (who  thinks that D’Angelo, Lauryn Hill, Chris Tucker and Dave Chapelle are all  hanging out on the island of, ‘What do we do with all of this talent’), D’Angelo’s ex Angie Stone and his former music director who claims the ‘Untitled’ video wasn’t about sex, but instead, his grandmother’s  cooking.
Check out a few interesting excerpts below:
D’Angelo  on the evil in music (Is he talking the Illuminati?) There’s  forces that are going on that I don’t think a lot of motherf-ckers that make  music today are aware of,” he says. “It’s deep. I’ve felt it. I’ve felt other  forces puling at me.” He stubs out his cigarette and leans toward me, taking my  hand. “This is a very powerful medium that we are involved in,” he says  gravely.” “I learned at an early age that what we were doing in the choir was  just as important as the preacher. It was a ministry in itself. We could stir  the pot, you know? The stage is our pulpit, and you can use all of the energy  and that music and the lights and the colors and the sound. But you know, you’ve  got to be careful.”

Paul Hunter (Director  of Untitled) on the video being misunderstood Most people think the ‘Untitled’ video was about sex, but my direction was completely opposite of  that. It was about his grandmother’s cooking. Think of your grandmother’s  greens, how it smelled in the kitchen. What did the yams and the fried chicken  taste like? That’s what I want you to express.” The video may have looked like  foreplay, but it was actually about family, Hunter insists-about  intimacy.
Later when I tell D’Angelo this, he says, “It’s so true: We  talked about the Holy Ghost and the church before that take. The veil is the  nudity and the sexuality. But what they’re really getting is the  spirit.
D’Angelo on the effects of the ‘Untitled’ video
One  time I got mad when a female threw money at me onstage, and that made me feel  like f-cked-up, and I threw the money back at her. I was like, ‘I’m not a  stripper.’
On the last day of the eight-month tour, Questlove says  D’Angelo told him, “Yo, man, I cannot wait until this f-cking tour is over. I’m  going to go in the woods, drink some hooch, grow a beard, and get fat.” Questlove thought he was joking. “I was like, ‘You’re a funny guy.’ And then it  started to happen. That’s how much he wanted to distance  himself.”
Angie Stone, the mother of one of D’Angelo’s kids detailed a  time that she had to wait in the wings while he walked in an awards show with  actress Vivica Fox.
Stone remembers an event in Manhatten in  September 1996 that was billed as Giorgio Armani’s tribute to D’Angelo.  Stone-thirteen years older than D-was three months pregnant with their son. They  headed to the event together in a limo, but as they neared the venue where D was  going to perform, it suddenly pulled over. He was asked to get into another car,  where he would be escorted by Vivica Fox,” Stone says, her voice breaking  slightly. The lissome Fox had just appeared with Will Smith in the blockbuster  Independence Day. “It was a Hollywood moment. They wanted a trophy girl. I had  to walk in behind them to flashing cameras. It started the wheels turning of  what was yet to come.
The magazine also cited past reports of Madonna  wanting a piece of D
When Madonna turned 39, she asked him to sing “Happy Birthday” at her party. One press report had her sitting on his lap and  French-kissing him. In fact, two sources say that ultimately D rebuffed her  advances at another gathering not long after. At that event, the sources say,  Madonna walked over and told a woman sitting next to D, “I think you’re in my  seat.” The woman got up. Madonna sat down and told him, “I’d like to know what  you’re thinking.” To which D replied, “I’m thinking you’re rude.”
