NGO OKAFOR STARS OPPOSITE JONAH HILL AND JAMES FRANCO

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-

NGO OKAFOR STARS OPPOSITE JONAH HILL AND JAMES FRANCO IN “TRUE STORY”, PRODUCED BY BRAD PITT

New York, New York, May 13th, 2013—The star meter for the most downloaded black male model,  Ngo Okafor, continues to skyrocket. Okafor’s body of work as an actor is stacking up at a furious pace. Ngo has just wrapped shooting his part in the feature film, “True Story”, opposite Hollywood heavy hitters Jonah Hill and James Franco. “True Story” is produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment. Ngo Okafor plays the part of Ibrahim, an Ibo (Nigerian language) translator, in the film.

“True Story,” an adaptation of New York Times journalist Michael Finkel’s 2006 memoir of the same name, chronicles Finkel’s discovery that his identity had been stolen by Christian Longo, a fugitive who was placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted list after murdering his family and fleeing to Mexico. Hill is portraying Finkel on screen, with James Franco playing the role of Longo.

Mr. Finkel was banished as a contributing writer for The New York Times in early 2002 for faking much of a magazine cover storyabout the travails of a young African plantation worker, who turned out to be a composite. Seeking redemption, he quickly struck up what proved to be a mutually exploitive relationship — mixing friendship, journalism and some bizarre exploration of shared reality — with one Christian Longo.

Mr. Longo had just murdered his wife and three children in Oregon. And then, improbably, Mr. Longo assumed Mr. Finkel’s identity as he went on the lam outside the United States.

REDEMPTION: LEBRON JAMES LEADS MIAMI HEAT TO NBA TITLE

The Miami Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-106 Thursday night in Miami to win the NBA championship in five games.

League MVP LeBron James scored 26 points, and had 11 rebounds and 13 assists for Miami. Chris Bosh scored 24 points and Dwyane Wade 20 for the Heat.

Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant led all scorers with 32 points.

It was James’ first title since signing with the Heat as a free agent in 2010. James won two MVP awards over seven seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers but no NBA titles. James was drafted by Cleveland out of high school in nearby Akron, Ohio.

“This is a dream come true for me. This is definitely when it pays off,” James said after the game. James was named the series MVP.

The Heat lost last year’s finals to the Dallas Mavericks.

“We had to go through last year,” Wade said after the game, according to NBA.com. “As much as it hurt, we had to experience it to get here, this season.”

The Heat, who won four games straight to win the best-of-seven series, took a lead early in the game and never let up, leading by 25 points in the final minutes of the third quarter.

Thunder coach Scott Brooks said his young team will learn from the finals experience.

“I think when you play against the best, you learn. You don’t get better by playing bad teams,” Brooks said. “We’ve played against the best three teams in the last few years and we’ve learned.”

Durant had a game-high 32 points but said losing in the finals is the hardest thing he and his team have been through.

“It’s tough, that’s the only way to explain it. As a whole I’m proud of the guys for how we’ve fought all season,” Durant said. “I wouldn’t want to play for anyone else or any other city.”

LEBRON JAMES SCORES 45 POINTS TO BEAT DOWN THE BOSTON CELTICS

For all those Lebron James haters, prepare to eat his shorts. As I write this, reports are that Lebron James is in the locker room reading a fiction novel while all the reporters who had marked him for dead, have no choice but to patiently wait. I love it!!!

BOSTON – No one can say LeBron James retreated from the moment this time.

James turned in one of the Heat’s all-time greatest postseason performances Thursday night in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals, scoring 45 points in Miami’s 98-79 victory. Now, it comes down to one game for a ticket to the NBA Finals, and the Heat has homecourt advantage. Game 7 of the series is Saturday at AmericanAirlines Arena.

The Heat entered Game 6 losers of 15 of its previous 16 games at TD Garden but, fueled by a virtuosic show from James, Miami took an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Considering the circumstances, it might have been James’ best postseason performance of his career. Wade’s 46 points against Boston in the 2010 playoffs is the franchise postseason record.

“We’re not going to celebrate about this win,” James said. “It’s a one-game series now and it’s in our building.”

In 2010, James and his Cleveland Cavaliers trailed 3-2 against the Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals and James wilted from the moment in Boston. Not this time. James averaged a point a minute, going 19 of 26 from the field in 45 minutes. He played every minute of the first three quarters before watching from the bench in the final minutes.

“I just wanted to try to lead my team the best I could,” said James, who also had 15 rebounds and five assists. “I’m glad we were able to get this win a force Game 7.”

Led by James’ brilliance, the Heat shot 48.7 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from three-point range. The Heat led by double figures throughout the second half and its largest lead was 25 points. The Heat out-rebounded the Celtics 44-34.

Once again, Dwyane Wade wasn’t himself to begin the game but once again he played well in the fourth quarter. Wade started Game 6 with four points in the first half and was 1 of 6 from the field in the first quarter. But, while he might playing with an injured knee, he still had enough left in reserve to give the Heat a boost in crunch time.

Wade finished with 17 points on 6 of 17 from the field and scored eight in the final period. Wade and James were the only players to score in double digits for the Heat but Mario Chalmers contributed nine important points on three three-pointers. The Heat was 7 of 16 from three-pointer range, with James adding two and Shane Battier delivering a pair as well.

James had 30 points in the first half and the Heat led by 13 points to begin the third and fourth quarters. It was a postseason high for James in a first half and it matched the most by any player in a half this season. Monta Ellis of Golden State did it against Oklahoma City in February.

Wade had a hand in the Heat’s first seven points of the fourth quarter. He scored four straight points to begin the period and then whipped a difficult pass to Battier in the corner, who swished his second three-pointer of the game to give the Heat an 18 points.

Chalmers drained a wide open three-pointer with 5:56 left in the third quarter to give the Heat a 15-point lead. It was Chalmers’ third three-pointer of the game, giving the Heat five three-pointers on its first 11 attempts.

James made the Heat’s sixth three-pointer less than two minutes later to put the Heat ahead 72-59.

Wade, who struggled early in first halves throughout the series, began the game 0 of 4. For the series, Wade is shooting 30 percent (7 of 23) in first quarters. Meanwhile, James was phenomenal. He started the game with 14 points in the first quarter, shooting 6 of 7 from the field to go along with three rebounds and an assist.

He made 11 straight shots between misses on his first and final attempts of the half. Chris Bosh came off the bench to contribute seven points, six rebounds and three blocks in his second game back from injury.

JAMES BOND TO GIVE UP HIS MARTINIS FOR A BOTTLE OF HEINEKEN

James Bond’s Heineken deal is not kosher for all former James Bonds.

In “Skyfall,” the 23rd Bond film, the suave MI6 agent will forgo his usual shaken martini in favor of the classic Dutch beer. The deal — which netted the production a reported $45 million — caused much consternation from Bond fans when it was announced, and now George Lazenby has come out against it as well.

Lazenby, who played Bond in the 1969 film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” reportedly told TMZ that the deal was bad for many reasons, not the least being that Heineken isn’t “the best beer out there.”

He also added that the Bond filmmakers “go where the money is,” something that current Bond star Daniel Craig would likely agree with.

“We have relationships with a number of companies so that we can make this movie,” Craig told Moviefone when asked about the Heineken deal. “The simple fact is that, without them, we couldn’t do it. It’s unfortunate but that’s how it is. This movie costs a lot of money to make, it costs as nearly as much again if not more to promote, so we go where we can.”

Despite the financial impetus behind the deal, Craig said that the Heineken sponsorship is still true to Bond’s character.

“The great thing is that Bond is a drinker. He always has been. It’s part of who he is, and — rightly or wrongly — you can make your own judgement about it. Having a beer is no bad thing, in the movie it just happens to be Heineken.”

“Skyfall” arrives in theaters on Nov. 9, meaning by Nov. 10, a bunch of bros will be ordering Heineken’s at your local bar with a put-on British accent.

JAMES IROHA AKA GRINGORI, NIGERIAN ACTOR, GOES HOME

I remember James Iroha aka Gringori. I remember James Iroha, a veteran Nigerian actor, who made all Igbo people and actually all Nigerians passed away at 69 recently. He was one of the most famous actors, back when it wasn’t cool to be an actor. I watched him when I was a kid. I watched his soap opera, New Masquerade was one of the first of it’s kind on the national television station in Nigeria, NTA.

James Iroha was a former director of programmes, Abia state Broadcasting Service, and creator of the now- rested television drama,‘The New Masquerade’.  The drama series ruled the screen in the early‘80’s on the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA Network. The television play started as a 15-minute radio programme known as ‘In a Lighter Mood’ in the then East Central State Broadcasting Corporation, Enugu. The masquerade was created because of the overriding need to assuage the grief that characterized Ndigbo at the end of the civil war.  The drama series captured the national audience for about two decades after it was adapted for television.

He was great. He was strong. He was funny.  Now he has gone home. My prayers go out to his family.

May he Rest In Peace

LUNCH WITH JAMES ANDREW OF WIJW

It had been about a year since I saw my good friend James. So we decided to catch up with lunch at Blue Smoke, one of my favorite BBQ spots in NYC.  James is the man behind the huge blog, WIJW (What Is James Wearing). In typical positive James fashion (excuse the pun) he reminded me of the power or meditation and visualization as a way to achieve all your goals. We also talked a lot about the shoot and interview we did for his blog, so I wanted to share the really cool post with you.

HERE IT IS—–

Some of you may know the story of how WIJW came to be – the cat calls I’d receive at the gym for my usual (slightly over the top?) outfits – I’d come in with my citron yellow jeans or a dusty rose suede safari jacket and there’d always be a “Hey Jimmy – whatcha got on today?” Of course I’d be tickled by the response I was getting, but I didn’t really see the opportunity I had until I started fitness training with the amazing Ngo Okafor. It was in fact Okafor who, with huge foresight, suggested I make a blog based on my fashion sense. It did take some friendly insistence from him over the next month or so, but I eventually called on Alex Scott to help create what we now know as What is James Wearing?! Tonight’s post is a tribute to Okafor’s persistence and the push he gave me to get this all to happen! As a model, Okafor has worked with major superstars like Gisele, and Mary J. Blige, and he’s currently featured in a huge Under Armour campaign. Okafor has acted in several TV shows as well, including Six Degrees, The Rebound with Catherine Zeta-Jones, and he has just finished work on an upcoming feature film, “Jeremy Fink and the meaning of life.” Okafor is currently at work on a feature-length documentary, which chronicles his journey from Nigeria to the top of the boxing world. “I really want the film to inspire people to dream big and work hard,” says Okafor.  “That’s always been my mantra and so far so good.”Be looking for his 2011 calendar which will be out soon, with proceeds going to raise funds for up-and-coming boxing stars in Nigeria.Ngo Okafor male model Boxing Champion and James Andrew of WIJW
