JACKSON FAMILY FEUD CAUGHT ON TAPE

Security camera video obtained by CNN shows the tension between Jackson family members amid a very public dispute over the whereabouts of Katherine Jackson.

The 82-year-old matriarch of the Jackson music dynasty has not contacted Michael Jackson’s three children since she left the home she shares with them on July 15, although a sheriff’s investigation concluded she is safe in Arizona.

Siblings Janet, Jermaine and Randy Jackson attempted to convince Michael Jackson’s two oldest children to leave Katherine Jackson’s home with them Monday, but Paris and Prince resisted, three sources with knowledge of the incident said. The sources asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter.

The video shows Janet Jackson apparently trying to take a cell phone away from Paris Jackson at the Calabasas, California, home. She scolded her niece for using her phone to write about family issues on Twitter, according to the three sources.

Paris, Michael Jackson’s 14-year-old daughter, posted a Twitter message at about the same time: “gotta love fam.”

Prince, 15, is seen walking away from his Uncle Randy into the home’s security office. Paris soon followed. Randy and Janet Jackson appeared to be recording the incident with their cell phones.

Sheriff deputies broke up a scuffle minutes later involving Randy and Jermaine Jackson and their cousin Trent Jackson, who works for their mother, according to several people who witnessed it.

No one was arrested, although a battery report was taken and an investigation is ongoing, Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

The drama happened as Los Angeles County sheriff’s detectives closed a missing persons case opened for Katherine Jackson, who was found to be with her daughter Rebbie in Arizona.

“Katherine Jackson has been located and she is fine and with family,” Whitmore said. “Our missing persons case is closed.” Deputies talked to two family members and were satisfied, he explained.

A lawyer for Katherine Jackson, however, was not satisfied, saying the sheriff’s deputies who tried to talk to her in Arizona Monday were blocked from seeing her.

Because she was taken across state lines, Katherine Jackson attorney Sandra Ribera said she hopes the FBI will investigate.

Jermaine Jackson, in a statement posted on Twitter Sunday night, said his mother “is safe and well in Arizona with her daughter and our sister, Rebbie, resting up on doctor’s advice.”

But Michael Jackson’s three children still have not heard from their grandmother, eight days after she left them at home, Ribera said.

“8 days and counting . something is really off , this isn’t like her at all .. i wanna talk directly to my grandmother!!<|3″ Paris tweeted Monday.

Jermaine Jackson’s statement insisted the children were not “being ‘blocked’ from speaking with Mother.”

“She is merely an 82-year-old woman following doctor’s orders to rest up and de-stress, away from phones and computers,” he tweeted.

His statement did not explain why Paris was rebuffed during several attempts to reach her grandmother on the phone.

It is the latest chapter in a messy dispute between several of Jackson’s children and her advisers.

Whitmore confirmed that the sheriff’s department is investigating allegations that Jackson was being “emotionally and financially mistreated by family members.”

Katherine Jackson has custody of Michael Jackson’s children and a 20% share in her son’s huge estate. Her husband, Joe Jackson, and her eight surviving children were completely left out of Michael Jackson’s will. Jackson died in 2009.

The abuse probe began when “a business associate of the Jackson family” reported the allegation to a sheriff’s official in April, Whitmore said.

“Investigators contacted Katherine Jackson and she emphatically denied any and all of (the allegations),” Whitmore said. When investigators met with Jackson, she was “in good health and voiced no complaints,” he said.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we have continued to interview legal representatives of the family about the possibility of financial abuses,” he said. “That investigation remains open.”

Katherine Jackson’s lawyer and business manager declined to comment.

KATHERINE JACKSON, MICHAEL JACKSON’S MOTHER, MISSING

Paris Jackson waited at home Sunday, hoping for a phone call from her grandmother, the woman who has cared for her since her father, Michael Jackson, died three years ago.

“yes, my grandmother is missing,” Paris Jackson, 14, tweeted Sunday morning. “i haven’t spoken with her in a week i want her home now.”

A nephew reported Jackson family matriarch Katherine Jackson, 82, missing late Saturday after her grandchildren were unable to get in touch with her for a week.

It is the latest chapter in a messy dispute between several of Jackson’s children and her advisers over her finances and legal affairs.

Jackson’s nephew, Trent, filed the report with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. But one of her sons involved in the dispute said in a series of Twitter postings Friday that Katherine Jackson was fine and resting in Arizona.

“I want to reassure everyone (inc all sudden medical experts) that Mother is fine but is resting up in AZ on the orders of a doctor, not us,” Jermaine Jackson tweeted.

“This is our mother and her health is paramount. We are not inventing or plotting anything. We are following doctor’s advice. Period,” he added.

Paris Jackson’s responded to her uncle’s claim with her own tweet early Sunday. “the same doctor that testified on behalf of dr murray saying my father was a drug addict (a lie) is caring for my grandmother… just saying” she tweeted.

The doctor who examined Jackson at her home on July 14 was Dr. Allan Metzger, according to Katherine Jackson attorney Sandra Ribera. Metzger was a defense expert witness for Dr. Conrad Murray last year. Murray was subsequently convicted of involuntary manslaughter in Michael Jackson’s death.

Dr. Metzger was brought into Jackson’s Calabasas, California, home “under false pretenses” by saying he was sent by her primary care physician, Ribera said. “We came to find out that her doctor has no association with Dr. Metzger.”

The doctor advised Jackson that it was better for her to take a plane on a trip planned for the next day, rather than ride in a RV driven by Trent Jackson, Ribera said.

Jackson left with her oldest daughter, Rebbie, the next day to fly to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to attend a Jackson brothers concert two days later, she said. But she never arrived at the concert, Ribera said.

When Paris Jackson called her aunts Rebbie and Janet over the past several days to find her grandmother, she was told each time she could not speak to her, Ribera said.

In another tweet, Paris Jackson gave out her bodyguard’s phone number and asked people to call the authorities if they saw her grandmother.

“The kids were trying to get a hold of their grandmother and they haven’t been able to reach her for almost a week,” Ribera said. “They are told she’s unavailable.”

“I’m concerned that she’s not safe,” Ribera added.

Jackson “has never gone 24 hours without talking to her kids,” she said. “I’m concerned that she would never do this. We have no idea what’s going on with her. No one has talked to her.”

CNN reached out to Janet Jackson’s representatives several times but did not hear back.

The sheriff’s homicide-missing persons unit has been asked to investigate, Ribera said.

A letter was made public Wednesday in which two daughters, Rebbie and Janet, and three sons — Jermaine, Randy and Tito — charge that Katherine Jackson was being mistreated by the executors of Michael Jackson’s estate and mis-advised by her manager and lawyer.

ADIDAS CANCELS ‘SHACKLE’ SNEAKERS AFTER OUTCRY

Is Adidas really serious? Are they kidding? In 2012, Adidas shows that they have no clue about what black people went through for hundreds of years during slavery. It’s either that or they have chosen to create these shoes in order attract attention to their brand from controversy. Either way, it shows a lack of respect for black people and black history.

German sports apparel maker Adidas withdrew its plans to sell a controversial sneaker featuring affixed rubber shackles after the company generated significant criticism when advertising the shoe on its Facebook page.

The high-top sneakers, dubbed the JS Roundhouse Mids, were expected to release in August, according to the Adidas Originals Facebook page. “Got a sneaker game so hot you lock your kicks to your ankles?” a caption below a photo of the sneakers read.

The June 14 post prompted plenty of criticism from around the web, with many of those commenting saying they felt the shackle invoked the painful image of slavery.

“Wow obviously there was no one of color in the room when the marketing/product team ok’d this,” said a commenter identifying herself as MsRodwell on nicekicks.com.

“I literally froze up when I saw a new design from Adidas set to hit stores in August,” said Dr. Boyce Watkins in a post for the website Your Black World.

Though dismissing the criticism in a written statement by defending the sneaker’s designer, Jeremy Scott, as having a “quirky” and “lighthearted” style, Adidas nonetheless said Monday that it planned to cancel the shoe’s release.

“The design of the JS Roundhouse Mid is nothing more than the designer Jeremy Scott’s outrageous and unique take on fashion and has nothing to do with slavery,” the statement said. “We apologize if people are offended by the design and we are withdrawing our plans to make them available in the marketplace.”

One of Adidas’ most high-profile condemnations came from the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

“The attempt to commercialize and make popular more than 200 years of human degradation, where blacks were considered three-fifths human by our Constitution is offensive, appalling and insensitive,” Jackson said in a statement Monday, prior to Adidas’s decision to withdraw them from the marketplace.

The photo could still be found in the photo section of Adidas’ Facebook page Tuesday morning. And whether Adidas wanted it or not, the sneakers were still inspiring a spirited debate about race in the comment section of its Facebook page.

MAN…WHY DOES HE BANG SO HARD!!!

I just woke up. I didn’t have to use an alarm. I don’t have to get up and start running around. It’s just an easy, early, sunday morning. I turn on the TV to catch up on all the shows I missed while I was in Nigeria. I tune to Sportscenter. In an entire month, I didn’t get to watch Sportscenter. Unheard of!! As I watch TV, I realise that the grass is always greener on the other side. AMERICA vs NIGERIA—The grass is truly always greener. When I’m in America, I miss Nigeria and when I’m in Nigeria, I miss America. This will definitely be the title of another day’s blog post. I wish I could pull both worlds together, so that I can wake up on either world when I want to . Dream..Dream…Dream!!

People often wonder why I go so hard. They ask why I bang, push and grind so hard. I’ll give you an example of the things that make me go so hard. Before I laid down to sleep last night, I saw Ving Rhames, the star of so many huge films including Quentin Tarantino’s ’Pulp Fiction’, in a car commercial on TV. I was shocked. He has gone from top movie star to TV commercial actor. What is the business coming to? I laid in bed last night, a bit disturbed by it. I shook it off and went to sleep. Fast forward to me waking up this morning, thirsty as hell. My throat, scratchy and parched. I turned on the TV and walked over to the fridge to grab something to drink. As I was staring blankly into the fridge, I heard a familiar voice on the TV, talking to ‘Suri’, the female voice that answers questions on the IPhone. Could it be?! Nooo!!! I paused for a second and slowly turned around. Yes, It was what I thought it was. It was Samuel L. Jackson, doing an Iphone TV commercial. I couldn’t believe it.

Many people would wonder why I’m so shocked to see Samuel L. Jackson doing an Iphone commercial. I want you to imagine George Clooney, or Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp, doing an IPhone commercial. It just won’t happen.  Top TV actors wouldn’t even do it. To explain how big Samuel L. Jackson is, throughout the 1990s, A.C. Neilson E.C.I., a box office tracking company, determined that Jackson appeared in more films than any other actor that grossed $1.7 billion domestically. For all the films in his career, where he is featured as a leading actor or supporting co-star, his films have grossed a total of $2.81 to $4.91 billion at the North American box office, placing him as the seventh (as strictly lead) or the second highest-grossing movie star (counting supporting roles) of all time. The 2009 edition of The Guinness World Records stated that Jackson is the world’s highest grossing actor, having earned $7.42 billion in 68 films.

After setting all these records, Sam Jackson is doing TV commercials!?! This is why I grind so hard. This is why I will never stop. The terrain is just not the same for all. We have to work twice as hard as everyone else. Not only are the roles fewer for us, there are just as many actors going after the same few roles. This fact does not deter me though, it motivates me. This is what makes all my success that much greater.

We must enjoy the process. We must enjoy the grind. We must enjoy the hustle!!

MOMENTS

Yesterday was a good day. My good friend Chin Achebe won his second fight in the 2012 Golden Gloves boxing tournament. I was excited and can’t wait for his next fight. After last night’s win, I believe that he has what it takes to win it all. Ealier on in the day, I ran about 4.5 miles. I hadn’t run in quite some time and it felt good to open up and run. I had friends in town and I took one of them to Peak Performance NYC for  a bit of sight seeing and a workout. While I was stretching at the gym, I pushed my knuckle into the ground a bit too aggressively and suffered a set back. My knuckle swelled up again. It’s very frustrating because I want this pain and swelling in my hand gone. I want the pain gone so  that I can continue to do things that require the use of my hand, such as, boxing and certain types of workouts. Being able to work hard is what creates all the great moments in our lives.

Just as in our favorite movies, our lives are defined by moments. These are the points in these films or in our lives that we remember. These are the points that everyone in our lives remembers. They can be sad, they can be happy, they are nostalgic. If we intend for life not to live us, but the other way around, we have to work to create moments in our lives. That is what we live for. I have put together a list of moments that have defined my generation. Some of them are not man made, but they are moments that moved us. I have listed them randomly. They are -

  • Barak Obama becomes the 44th president and the first black president of the United States of America
  • Michael Jackson releases ‘Thriller’ followed the greatest music video of all time, the ‘Thriller’ video
  • Whitney Houston stars in ‘The Bodyguard’ and sings ‘I will Always Love You’ and does that 45 second intro like no other human being alive, can.
  • Michael Jackson dies
  • Whitney Houston dies
  • The September 2011 attacks on the Wall Trade Center Towers
  • The invention of the Ipod
  • The invention of the digital Video Recorder (DVR)
  • The death of Tupac Shakur
  • The death of The Notorious BIG
  • Aaliyah dies
  • George Bush announces that America is going to war with Iraq

What moments are you creating in your life?
