HOTEL GYM AND HOME WORKOUT: THE JET SETTER GUIDE TO FITNESS

If you’re a businessman or woman, on the go or a frequent vacationer, there’s a good  chance that at some point you’re going to end up away from your gym and on the  hunt for a place to work out. While many assume that every hotel comes equipped  with a gym, this is often not the case. Even some pricey boutique hotels do not  include an exercise room, so it’s important to have a workout backup plan.

This is where hotel workouts come into play: you can use items found in your hotel room as props to help you work out and maintain your  physique while out of town. The key to an effective hotel workout is finding  creative ways to challenge the muscles, all while using your own body weight or  props. For the cardioportion of your hotel workout, options include  stepping up and down on a chair or bench, running stairs located in the hotel,  skipping (outside if you’re not on the bottom floor), or simply going for a  run. For strength training, you’re going to need to put a spin on  traditional exercises to create your hotel workout. Here are some  useful ways to get an effective hotel workout.

Props

To complete your hotel workout, you can use the following  props:

  • 2 2-liter bottles of water obtained at a nearby grocery or convenience  store
  • 2 chairs found in your room

The objective of your hotel  workout is to move through the following exercises as quickly as possible.

Body weight squats with wall squats

Start your hotel workout by holding  one of the water bottles directly out in front of you with your feet  shoulder-width apart. Begin to squat down, keeping your toes pointed  forward and going as low as possible. Complete a total of 30-50 reps, depending  on your fitness level. Then, stand with your back against a wall and  move down into the squat position so that your knees are at a 90-degree  angle. Hold this position for 20-30 seconds.

Push-up sequence

To add more difficulty to regular push-ups, place your  feet on top of the bed while keeping your hands on the floor. Your body should  be on a flat decline. From there, perform push-ups as usual.   Once you’re finished doing 15-20 reps, turn your body while lifting one hand off  the floor so that you are sideways with one arm fully supporting your body.  Maintain this position for 20 seconds. After you’re finished, repeat  the push-ups, only this time place your hands in a triangular position.   Repeat once more on the other side, holding the sideways position to complete  this sequence.

TOP 10 THINGS YOU MUST NOT DO WHILE STAYING IN A HOTEL

As you know, I travel a lot and have spent my fair share of time in hotel rooms. I have learned a few rules to live by along the way. Iwanted to share them with you in addition to some new rules. I searched high and low and have come up with a list of the top 10 things not to do when checking in to a hotel. From treating the staff correctly to keeping your cool, you’ll be sure to have an even more enjoyable escape by using his extensive checklist.

1. Don’t yell at the staff. Ever.

2. Don’t tell anyone your room number. (A desk agent should point to your room number, and not announce it to the world.)

3. Don’t get bent out of shape when the night desk agent asks to see your “new friend’s” identification. Additionally, do not let a hotel employee into your room if they do not have an I.D.

4. Don’t blame hotel staff for stealing your stuff. My personal experience is that the guests eventually find 99% of the items that guests report stolen from their rooms. However, it is your right to ask the manager to call the police to file a police report.

5. Don’t order from room service if you notice the pages are dirty and torn. Don’t order if the menu reads “Winter Menu” when it’s spring.

6. Don’t use the bathroom washcloths to take off your makeup or shine your shoes.

7. Don’t throw anything in the room garbage if you don’t want the hotel staff to know about it, including insulin needles (or any needle) without properly disposing of it.

8. Don’t abuse the privilege of late checkout. If you really need one past 1:00 p.m., ask for the manager.

9. Don’t leave your luggage unattended in a hotel lobby – even for a second.

10. Don’t be embarrassed! Call the hotel after you’ve checked out, and they will send your forgotten sex toys. Just like they would send your baby blanket back to you. Promise

WE MUST LEARN TOLERANCE: TRANSGENDER PAGEANT WINNER KILLED IN SOUTH AFRICA

A 23 year old South African man who won a Miss Gay pageant last year has been killed.
Thapelo Makutle (pictured above), known as Queen Bling, was found in his room with his throat slit last week Saturday. His friend told police that Thapelo had argued with two heterosexual men the previous day about his sexuality,  the two men followed him home, broke down his door and killed him.
The late Makutle was active in the LGBT community in the Kuruman region, and his family and friends are angry that no one has been arrested for his murder despite the fact that the attackers description was given to police.
Killing someone because of their sexually is the height of man’s inhumanity to man. So sad!
