IS YOUR BOSS AND YOU WORKPLACE KILLING YOUR SEX LIFE?

When it comes to your workplace, is your boss always right? If you answered yes, your rigid social views could be totally screwing with your sex life, says a new Yale University study.

Researchers asked students how comfortable they were with some people having “more of a chance in life than others” and found that men and women who are okay with inequality and power hierarchies reported the lowest levels of sexual confidence and satisfaction. What’s more, the men who put their own pleasure first were found to be the least confident, says Lisa Rosenthal, Ph.D., lead author, and professor at Yale.

While researchers can’t yet explain the connection between your views on dominance and your bedroom prowess, if your sex life is stuck in neutral, it doesn’t hurt to try something new.

The best way to kick stereotypes to the curb, and bust out of any sexual rut? Help her take control in the sack. Here are three ways to do it.

Take Pointers From Her Little Friends Ask her about her sex toys. Odds are, she has some. More than fifty percent of women do, says Debby Herbenick, Ph.D., and Men’s Health sex professor. Tell her you want to use it them together, and have her show you exactly how she likes it done. Let her start and then add your hands into the mix. Not only will you learn what she likes best, she’ll get comfortable with showing you exactly how to get her off, she explains.

Get Her On Top Let’s face it: Talking about the nuts and bolts of sex isn’t always the easiest thing to do with your girlfriend. Sometimes you have to make the move that puts her in control, says Herbenick. Rather than telling her what to do next, slide her on top and into the cowgirl position. By physically placing her on top, you empower her to decide what happens next. She gets to control your rhythm and dictate how much of your penis she’s taking in, says Herbenick. As she lowers and raises herself, meet her with each thrust.

Step Outside the Missionary Box The key to putting her in control is making sure she has a chance to get involved. Power isn’t always about who’s on top, but about what each of you get to do, says Herbenick. The “squatted kneeling” position gets both of you involved and helps you cede control. Here’s how it work: As you squat on the balls of your feet, move her onto your lap so that her legs are straddling yours. From there, you can better stimulate her clitoris and she can control penetration and depth by bouncing on her feet.

THINK IT’S HOT WHERE YOU ARE? IMAGINE LIVING IN THE BAKING HEAT HERE

For many Americans, the past month has been miserably hot.

Heat advisories and warnings have been issued from coast to coast, with high temperatures often reaching into the triple digits. More than 4,500 record highs have been set across the country in the past 30 days, according to the National Climatic Data Center.

But in certain parts of the world, this is the norm — or maybe even on the cool side.

Try Kuwait City, for instance. In July, its average high temperature is 116 degrees Fahrenheit.

Or Timbuktu in Mali, where the highs average 108 in May and was once recorded at 130. 130! That ranks fifth on the all-time list.

The highest temperature ever recorded on the planet was in 1922, when a thermometer in El Azizia, Libya, hit 136. Some dispute that mark, saying it was improperly measured. If that’s true, the record would be the 134, reached nine years earlier in Death Valley, California.

But the world’s hottest place might not be any of these, according to a team of scientists from the University of Montana. It says the highest temperatures on Earth are found in areas that don’t even have weather stations.

“The Earth’s hot deserts — such as the Sahara, the Gobi, the Sonoran and the Lut — are climatically harsh and so remote that access for routine measurements and maintenance of a weather station is impractical,” said David Mildrexler, lead author of a recent study that used NASA satellites to detect the Earth’s hottest surface temperatures.

The satellites detect the infrared energy emitted by land. And over a seven-year period, from 2003 to 2009, they found Iran’s Lut Desert to be the hottest place on Earth.

The Lut Desert had the highest recorded surface temperature in five of the seven years, topping out at 159 degrees in 2005. Other notable annual highs came from Queensland, Australia (156 degrees in 2003) and China’s Turpan Basin (152 degrees in 2008).

It’s important to stress that surface temperatures are naturally higher than the air temperatures measured by weather stations. Air temperatures have to be measured by thermometers placed off the ground and shielded from sunlight, according to global meteorological standards.

But the study shows that today’s modern records might not necessarily be the most accurate.

“Most of the places that call themselves the hottest on Earth are not even serious contenders,” co-author Steve Running said.

The world’s highest recorded air temperatures 1. El Azizia, Libya (136 degrees Fahrenheit) 2. Death Valley, California (134) 3. Ghadames, Libya (131) 3. Kebili, Tunisia (131) 5. Timbuktu, Mali (130) 5. Araouane, Mali (130) 7. Tirat Tsvi, Israel (129) 8. Ahwaz, Iran (128) 8. Agha Jari, Iran (128) 10. Wadi Halfa, Sudan (127)

Highest recorded air temperature (by continent) Africa: El Azizia, Libya (136) North America: Death Valley, California (134) Asia: Tirat Tsvi, Israel (129) Australia: Cloncurry, Queensland (128*) Europe: Seville, Spain (122) South America: Rivadavia, Argentina (120) Antarctica: Vanda Station, Scott Coast (59)

PUT YOUR HEAD DOWN AND KEEPING PUSHING FORWARD

It’s saturday again. It feels like it was saturday yesterday. Time flies when you are busy. Worry starts to creep in when you hear the sounds of the crickets. All good though. I love saturdays. Sometimes when you are creating a new business model, it seems as though the world is against you. No one understands what you are doing or why you are doing it. They just want to maintain the status quo. We have to remember that leaders are the people that break the mold. Leaders are the ones who dip their finger in untested or untasted waters and put it to their tongues, so that others may drink and live. When the feeling of doubt enters your mind, remember to put your head down and keep pushing forward!! You were born to lead!!

Determined to do things that no other black or white male model would do, I decided to attend a couple of events last night, even though I knew I had to run to the gym right afterwards for some sparring. I cannot miss an opportunity to market and proomote my brand and the events last were major. I attended an event called “Written Offerings’ which featured graffiti art work, photographs, and music. The photographs were by Elizabeth Jordan and were of children and images from Haiti. Some of the pictures were of  sick kids’ faces with the images enlarged on a canvas, so that the attendees, including me, could write short letters to the kids on the images. The money raised from the pieces went to charity. It was interesting to spar after drinking a few glasses of wine. I won’t recommend it to anyone, but I felt quite loose during sparring after imbibing. DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE, ENJOY SAFELY AND ALL THAT….

I’m getting to get ready to go to the gym and get my strength training workout in. I have noticed that boxing before I do my strength training has caused me to lose some muscle because I don’t lift as hard after boxing. A part of me likes the leaner, lighter me, but I always enjoy being bigger. I have always loved being bigger. Due to the fact that I was so skinny as a kid, being bigger was always my dream. I have worked on coming to terms with the fact that being bigger does not pay the bills. Being leaner means more work for me as a model. It means more work on screen period. The camera does add 15-20 pounds which makes me look monstrous, especially while standing next smaller actors and actresses.

I have lost about 6-7 pounds since I came back from Nigeria and it shows. My bench press has gone down a bit and so has my squat, but I feel that if I work at it, I can get the numbers back up. Even at a lighter weight, I think that I can move heavy weights. I have to do so in order to be able to move bigger guys around in the ring. Off I go…

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON OUT HERE!!

Monday was a great day for me. I didn’t want to talk about me yesterday because I felt that news that was bigger than me happened. Joe Frazier passed away on monday. Monday was a great day for me because I ran 7 miles in 58 minutes. That is major for me!! It’s hard for me to talk about that in this post today because as I was leaving the gym yesterday, I received a tweet that rapper, producer, actor Heavy D passed away. Back-to-back days of people I admired passing away was just crazy. Heavy D was only 44. The scond act of his life was just starting. What a year. All this news of death makes me wonder what the hell is going on out here!!! It just shows once again that you’re here today and gone tomorrow. With all this bad news, it just seems so trivial to talk about running on a treadmill or lifting weights to build muscle.

Some say that talking about happier things, keeping our minds away from the pain of loss, makes us feel better, but it doesn’t. We might feel better for a few minutes while we laugh, but we have eventually have to deal. We have to face it and then we can make sense of it and move past it. So crazy! Until then I’ll continue to work hard because that is the one thing I can control. I can control how fast my legs or how much weight I can move. I can control whether I give in to the pain or push through it. Everything else is up to the higher powers.

As I run my 6-7 miles today, my mind will be full of people that we have loved and lost and pray that they rest in perfect peace.

IT’S TOO DAMN HOT….STAY HYDRATED!

Polar Bear by Ngo Okafor

As Barak Obama and his team battle to beat the August 2nd deadline, the heat index in America continues to rise. 22 people have already died from heat related causes. The heat wave is now affecting more than half the country, throughout the mid-west and spreading east. As I was waiting for a taxi yesterday in New York, I could feel the heat rising by the minute. It was only 5.30 in the morning, but I was sweating just standing there. The temperature in New York is supposed to get up to 100 and feel like 110. I am very happy that I’m not there for that. Martin Lawrence tried to run in heat such as this and almost died. Be careful, stay out of the heat.  STAY HYDRATED!!

I saw on the news that in Minneapolis, temperatures are reaching record highs. I’m talking about heat indexes reaching 120F. That is crazy heat! It’s so hot you could cook an egg on the sidewalk, or on the dashboard of your car. A Minneapolis local news station reported on Wednesday about a lady who actually baked chocolate chip cookies on her dashboard. In Chicago a woman attempted to fry an egg, broil a bratwurst and make smores on her dashboard. After an hour the smores were good to go.

Although scientists have not done a very good job of explaning global warming or climate change, this amount of heat index increase which can be seen all across the country is evidence that there is indeed some change. We can do our part in helping to slow down this process. Using energy efficient appliances and utilizing public transportation (where available) are just major ways to help slow down the process of climate change.

In the context of climate variation, anthropogenic factors are human activities which affect the climate. The scientific consensus on climate change is “that climate is changing and that these changes are in large part caused by human activities,”[37] and it “is largely irreversible.”[38]

“Science has made enormous inroads in understanding climate change and its causes, and is beginning to help develop a strong understanding of current and potential impacts that will affect people today and in coming decades. This understanding is crucial because it allows decision makers to place climate change in the context of other large challenges facing the nation and the world. There are still some uncertainties, and there always will be in understanding a complex system like Earth’s climate. Nevertheless, there is a strong, credible body of evidence, based on multiple lines of research, documenting that climate is changing and that these changes are in large part caused by human activities. While much remains to be learned, the core phenomenon, scientific questions, and hypotheses have been examined thoroughly and have stood firm in the face of serious scientific debate and careful evaluation of alternative explanations.”

United States National Research Council, Advancing the Science of Climate Change

Consequently, the debate is shifting onto ways to reduce further human impact and to find ways to adapt to change that has already occurred[39] and is anticipated to occur in the future.[40]

Of most concern in these anthropogenic factors is the increase in CO2 levels due to emissions from fossil fuel combustion, followed by aerosols (particulate matter in the atmosphere) and cement manufacture. Other factors, including land use, ozone depletion, animal agriculture[41] and deforestation, are also of concern in the roles they play – both separately and in conjunction with other factors – in affecting climate, microclimate, and measures of climate variables.
