As you may or may not know, I’m the BIGGEST self promoter out there, hence the whole ‘most downloaded black male model’ thing. The following question was posed to me recently – “Why do you have your picture as the screen saver on your phone?” This question was posed because I have an image of one of my modeling campaigns as the screen saver on my phone. I can see how someone might consider this as weird, but I do not. If I worked for a brand such as Nike or Reebok or Adidas, it would considered cool to have their logo or an image of one of their ads on my phone because I work for them or better yet, I worked on that campaign. We have been conditioned to think that it is acceptable to promote and serve others and not ourselves.

I work for myself. I am my own brand. I am responsible for promoting, marketing and selling my brand. It is my job to work tireslessly to make my brand as strong as a Nike, Reebok or Adidas. There should be no limit to where I can go to sell and promote my brand including, yes, using my image as my wallpaper. I don’t think artists promote themselves enough. Artists are always waiting for someone (a mesiah) to come down from heaven and save them; discover them. I hate that expression. “ARE YOU TRYING TO GET DISCOVERED”. Hell no, I will discover my own damn self!!!

With that said, I just discovered a website called Dailymotion.com. It allows you to upload videos of up to 60 minutes in length in full HD. I have posted some of my videos and they look great and the upload time is extremely fast. I’m going to be developing ideas for several uploads within the next few weeks. Stay tuned for those. In the mean time, what are your thoughts on self promotion?
