It’s not difficult to look at the pace of Ngo Okafor ‘s life, and not feel like we need to get our butts in gear. Not only is he a model, actor and top NYC personal trainer, he is also a dad. Ngo makes it all look easy. Like it’s no big deal, and he does it all with a big smile on his face. How does he fit it all in? In this article, he shares how stays fit while juggling all three careers.
Thank you so much for interviewing me. I appreciate it. My dad always told me that the world is full of excuses, but no one is listening. I always hated that saying, but it has drven me through my entire life. No one cares why you didnt reach your goal. All they know is that you failed.
It is important to stay in shape, in my line of work- all of my lines of work. No one cares what reason I have for not staying fit, so I have to make it happen- no matter what. In order to stay in shape and always ready for acting roles or photo shoots, I train at least 5-6 days a week. Sometimes, due to my work schedule, I don’t have a lot of time to train. I may have just about 20 minutes, which is quite a short time, but I have to get my workout in. The secret to getting an intense workout in a short time is through High Intensity Interval Training(HIIT). Now, you don’t have to train as much or as hard as I do, but it’s important to get your exercise in.
HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more a ton of calories in less time. An example of this type of training is in the video below.
The workout is as follows:
Squats- 20 reps
Push-ups- 20 reps
TRX pull-ups- 20 reps
Prowler push for 100 yards
Rest for 2 minutes maximum
Do this circuit for as many rounds as you can
