GET UP OUT OF YOUR SEAT – 10 TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR RESOLUTION THIS YEAR

There’s a little over a week left in February and crowds of people that filled the gym after new year’s day, has all but disappeared.  Gyms make most of their money from new year’s resolutions. Many people buy gym memberships at the start of the year, with hopes of getting in better shape, but never show up. The gyms bill them automatically every month…you get the picture!!!  A new year often feels like a fresh start, a great opportunity to eliminate bad habits and establish new routines that will help you grow psychologically, emotionally, socially, physically or intellectually. Of course, resolutions are much easier to make than to keep and by the end of January many of us have abandoned our resolve and settled back into our old patterns. These are 10 tips to help us keep our resolutions this year-

1. Choose a Specific, Realistic Goal

Every year, millions of adults resolve to “lose weight” or “get in shape” during the next year. Instead of selecting such an ambiguous goal, focus on something more concrete that you can realistically set your sights on. For example, you mights commit to losing 10 pounds or running a mini-marathon. Choosing a concrete, achievable goal also gives you the opportunity to plan exactly how you are going to achieve your goal over the course of the year.

2. Pick Just One Resolution

While you may have a long list of potential New Year’s Resolutions, Richard Wiseman, a professor of psychology at Hertfordshire University, suggests that you should pick just one and focus your energies on it rather than spreading yourself too thin among a number of different objectives.

3. Don’t Wait Until New Year’s Eve

Planning is an essential part of achieving any goal. Experts suggest that you should spend some time planning out how you will tackle a major behavior change. You can start by writing down your goal, making a list of things you might do to achieve that goal and noting any obstacles that might stand in your way.

4. Start With Small Steps

Taking on too much is a common reason why so many New Year’s Resolutions fail. Dramatically slashing calories, over-doing it at the gym or radically altering your normal behavior are sure-fire ways to derail your plans. Instead, focus on taking tiny steps that will ultimately help you reach your larger goal.

If you’ve resolved to run a marathon, start out by going for a jog two or three times a week. If you are trying to eat healthier, start by replacing some of your favorite junk foods with more nutritious foods. While it may seem like a slow start, these small changes make it easier to stick to your new habits and increase the likelihood of long-term success.

5. Avoid Repeating Past Failure

Another strategy for keeping your New Year’s Resolution is to not make the exact same resolution year after year. “If people think they can do it they probably can, but if they’ve already tried and failed, their self-belief will be low,” explained Wiseman in a 2006 interview with The Guardian.

If you do choose to reach for the same goals you’ve tried for in the past, spend some time evaluating your past results. Which strategies were the most effective? Which were the least effective? What has prevented you from keeping your resolution in past years? By changing your approach, you will be more likely to see real results this year.

6. Remember That Change Is a Process

Those unhealthy habits that you are trying to change probably took years to develop, so how can you expect to change them in just a matter or days, weeks or months? It may take longer than you would like to achieve your goals, but remember that this is not a race to the finish. Once you have made the commitment to changing a behavior, it is something that you will continue to work on for the rest of your life.

7. Don’t Let Small Stumbles Bring You Down

Encountering a setback is one of the most common reasons why people give up on their New Year’s Resolutions. If you suddenly relapse into a bad habit, don’t view it as a failure. The path toward your goal is not a straight one, and there are always going to be challenges. Instead, view relapses as learning opportunities.

If you are keeping a resolution journal, write down important information about when the relapse occurred and what might have triggered it. By understanding the challenges you face, you will be better prepared to deal with them in the future.

8. Get Support from Your Friends and Family

Yes, you’ve probably heard this advice a million times, but that is because the buddy system actually works. Having a solid support system can help you stay motivated. Explain what your goals are to your close friends or family and ask them to help you achieve your objectives. Better yet, enlist the help of others by joining a group that shares your goal.

9. Renew Your Motivation

During the first days of a New Year’s Resolution, you will probably feel confident and highly motivated to reach your goal. Because you haven’t really faced any discomfort or temptation associated with changing your behavior, making this change might seem all too easy.

After dealing with the reality of dragging yourself to the gym at 6 A.M. or gritting your teeth through headaches brought on by nicotine withdrawal, your motivation to keep your New Year’s Resolution will probably start to dwindle. When you face such moments, remind yourself of exactly why you are doing this. What do you have to gain by achieving your goal? Find sources of inspiration that will keep you going when times get tough.

10. Keep Working on Your Goals

By February, many people have lost that initial spark of motivation that they felt immediately after making their New Year’s Resolution. Keep that inspiration alive by continuing to work on your goals, even after facing setbacks. If your current approach is not working, reevaluate your strategies and develop a new plan.

Consider keeping a resolution journal, where you can write about your successes and struggles. Write down the reasons why you are working toward your goal so that you can refer to them during times when you feel uninspired and unmotivated. By sticking with it and working on your goal all year long, you can be one of the few able to say that you really did keep your New Year’s Resolution.

CRY ME A DEEP, LONG RIVER

Don’t be a woulda-shoulda-mothafucker!!!! This is what my good friend Charles Sapp told me that his high school football coach would always say when guys are getting ready to quit on the football field. Everybody loves a champion. A champion is not always the winner of the contest, but the person who gave it their all. The person who was willing to die to win. If they happen to come up short, everyone loves them, just as much as the guy who won.

Nobody wants to hear about all the things you want to do. Nobody wants to hear about all the dreams you have. They want to hear that you have a plan. They want to know that you intend to make these dreams come true. That is inspiring. Dreams are not inspiring. Working to make those dreams come true is inspiring. Stop getting ready to get ready. Get out there and work on making your dreams happen. That is what true living is!!!

When I decided to do my documentary, ‘Three Rounds’, I wanted to share the story of my intention to win a second Golden Gloves Tournament, against all odds and how acheiving my dream of playing sports at a high level has changed my life and the lives of others. It gave me extra motivation to train harder than I did the year before, because I was stepping up in class. I was stepping up to the open division which is basically pro level. Most of the guys who fight in the open division turn pro shortly afterwards. Doing the documentary pushed me to work harder because nobody wants to see a film about a loser. So, on the mornings that I felt tired and lazy, I would remember the documentary and drag my ass out of bed and go running.

Pursue your dreams, no matter what. Life is worthless if we don’t allow ourselves to dream. Dream big and work hard to make those dreams come true. For those people who dwell on all the reasons why they can’t acheive their dreams, cry me a deep, long, river!!!!

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA…JEREMY LIN IS HERE!

Yes, I’m talking about it too. I’m talking about Jeremy Lin. If you are human and do not live under a rock, how can you not? It’s such a great story which shows that you should never give up on your dream. You just cannot write this stuff….I guess someone will write a screenplay for it now though!! On February 5th, Jeremy Lin got up from his brother’s couch and broke into our lives. He has single handedly saved the Knicks future. Knick ticket prices are through the roof and MSG (the owner of the Knicks) stock has exploded. Within 10 days, his twitter followers have gone from 25,000 to nearly 500,000. His number 17 Knick jersey is the top selling Jersey in the NBA. You can’t help but love the kid.

Many people argue that Lin is getting so much hype because he is Asian. That is definitely right. The fact that he is Chinese is the reason why his talent had been overlooked for so long. Coming out of high school, Jeremy Lin was not recruited by any major basketball colleges. He went to Harvard, which was just his back up school. He posted great numbers there, but did not get any real interest from teams in the NBA. The truth of the matter is that outside of tennis and ping-pong we do not see Asians as athletes. Yao Ming was a center in the NBA, which is not a skill position. You don’t have to be a great athlete to play the center position. Jeremy Lin is the NBA’s first American-born player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent. He is a point guard which is an athletic position in basketball. Great athletes like Isiah Thomas, Majic Johnson and Derek Rosehave  played this position.  All the reports continue to use the word ‘deceptive’ to describe Jeremy. He has deceptive quickness, deceptive athletic ability and deceptive strength. If Lin were black, would anyone say that he has deceptive athletic ability? I don’t think so!!

Reporters can’t even control themselves.  Several have used racial remarks towards Jeremy. ESPN has already fired and suspended two employees for using racist remarks toward Jeremy Lin. In both cases, an employee used the word “chink” in reference to Lin, a Palo Alto native of Chinese descent. MSG showed a video of Lin popping out of a fortune cookie. The racial situation surrounding Lin was the suject of a skit in last weekend’s Saturday Night Live.

Lin-sanity has taken the country by storm and as a result created a spending frenzy that’s benefiting a broad range of companies, tax rolls and even the stock market. Lin’s salary this season is a modest (by NBA standards) $800,000, but expect that blow up to at least $5M by next year.

Overall, MSG shares are up about 6% since Feb. 3, the day before Lin first saw significant playing time in place of injured superstars Amar’e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony. The craze for Lin also propelled Madison Square Garden Co. to an all-time high share price. Shares of MSG rose $1.12, or 3.6%, to close at $32.27 on Monday. In earlier trading, shares peaked at $33.18 — the highest price since MSG’s stock began trading in January 2010.His instant popularity has landed him a spot in the NBA’s All-Star Weekend — in the events Saturday Feb. 25 but not the game Feb. 26 — and also helped MSG and Time Warner Cable resolve a dispute. The two sides had been warring over fees, robbing New Yorkers of local sports programming.

But there’s more of an impact to consider. Ticket prices for Knick games are estimated to have jumped more than 25% in the resale market. That means all the online ticket sellers are seeing an increase in their bottom lines.

Plus, it isn’t just the tickets in New York that have increased, the tickets sales have gone up while the Knicks are on the road.

“We’ve seen an increase of 10x in site traffic and ticket sales,” says Joellen Errer, head of communications at online ticket seller Stub Hub. “Page views, search activities increased. As soon as he hit the game winning three-pointer on Tuesday, prices have risen 2-3x.”

Stub Hub is an eBay (EBAY) company, which if you were wondering, a Jeremy Lin search brings up more than 11,000 results.

“It’s a combination of all factors, the Knicks are on the largest stage and it’s a turnaround story,” Errer continued. “Then there’s the the mommy test. If Mom has heard of him, then he’s past the sports headline and into the everyday news.”

Then there’s the retail aspect. Jerseys are $58 and practice T-shirts are $25. Local sports retailer Modell’s says Lin merchandise is flying out the store.

Lin’s no. 17 jersey is the NBA’s top online seller since Feb. 4, and Knicks’ merchandise sales are also no. 1 since Lin entered the lineup. Lin won’t receive anything from merchandise sales — that goes to the NBA and the team.

So, if it costs an estimated $20 to make a jersey, then $38 is profit and thousands are being sold. If 50,000 jerseys have been sold, that would generate a profit of $1.9 million. In addition, Café Press has 134 different Lin-centered products up for sale, including T-shirts with riffs on his name and baby outfits. Not worth counting, but certainly worth mentioning for all the aspiring graphic artists out there.

Elsewhere, Nike (NKE) has a deal with Lin, but there are no Lin shoes – yet. Nike stock is only up modestly over the past week. Adidas has the NBA contract, so presumably their factories are churning out jerseys as fast as possible. Adidas stock is also up $2 over the past week.

Time to talk cable. Disney (DIS) owns ESPN, which is becoming the Jeremy Lin channel as they play and replay Lin highlight clips. Cable is eating up all the extra viewers, of course as long as you are not with Time Warner (TWC).

MUSIC TAKES ME THERE

Unfortunately, I know that unlike in StarTrek, I cannot be beamed to another place or time. The mind on the other hand, is boundless. I can just press play on a song and give it permission to transport me to where ever I dream to go. Allowing my mind to fly is fun, now back to reality. I went to a really cool party last night in Harlem. It was the coolest house party I’ve been to in a very long time. It was more like a massive, four-floor townhouse party. It was packed full of so many interesting people. I reconnected with people I hadn’t seen in at least 10 years. It was great. I left the party early enough to catch my family still awake at my apartment. It was perfect. It was my last night with them and we made the best of it. We laughed, planned our next get-together , listened to music and did a little dancing.

I didn’t get much sleep because I had to make sure everyone got on their flight or ride back home. When I came home from getting everyone on their way, my apartment felt empty. I thought that I would come home and pass out, but I couldn’t sleep. I miss my family. I didn’t think that I would, but I do. I started watching a movie hoping that it would put me to sleep and out of my misery. The title of the film was ‘Fish Tank’. It was surprisingly great and of course I didn’t go to sleep. It was a film about teenage angst, with a splash of psychotic behaviour brought on by a combination of terrible parenting by the lead character’s mother and the lack of a positive father figure.

The film was flowing along quite nicely and then Nas came on. When ‘Life’s a Bitch’ by Nas came on in a scene in the film, it put the film over the top for me. The film exploded for me at that point. For those of you who don’t know, click on the video below immediately to find out what you’ve been missing. The song instantly took me to another place. It took me to another time. I was immediately transported to the mid nineties. It took me to a time when nothing but having an insane amount of fun, mattered. A time with no responsibilities. A time when being the most downloaded black male model in the world did not weigh on my mind. Such an amazing song. The lyrics are one of the best ever. Songs like these from Nas are what make him the best lyricist alive or dead. Yes, I said alive or dead. I love Tupac, but Nas’ lyrics are more advanced than Tupac’s. Listen to the song right here.

Did you feel it? This is what music does. It has the power to transport you to a different space, place and time. MUSIC TAKES ME THERE!

LATHER, RINSE, REPEAT – THE KEY TO SUCCESS

Lather, rinse, repeat is a phrase that is a common part of the instructions on shampoo bottles. It is sometimes also used as a humorous way of saying that a certain set of instructions should be repeated until an explicit or implicit goal is reached,.

The quote above is the metaphor for success. Repetition…repetition…repetition! Before I get to that, I have to get you caught up on the events of yesterday. As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I have family in town. My mom and my aunt were given tickets to the DR. Oz show by my cousin, Ify. They were so excited to attend the show and see DR. Oz that they made sure to arrive at the studio, nearly three hours before the taping of the show begun. As a New Yorker, you don’t find these things exciting because you see celebrities everyday and over time, numbness to celebrities sets in. It was actually refreshing to see their excitement. I’m always happy to see people get excited in life. I feed off that. To continue, they got in to the studio and sat in the front row. So exciting!! When the taping of the show was over, their dream came true; DR. Oz hugged them!! I joked that they would never show again. They got home to mu place, chilled out for a little while and passed out.

I was not tired at all. I was watching Kobe Bryant single-handedly destroy the Phoenix Suns. Kobe exemplifies the quote above. After a disappointing loss to the Miami Heat last year, his teammates got themselves cleaned up after the game and others for the after party scene. Kobe stayed on the court for a little over two hours, shooting jump shot after jump shot, re-perfecting his game. NBA players and reporters watched as he practiced, by himself, at the American Airlines Arena. Kobe has been known to make, not take, but make 700 to 1000 shots each and every day. That’s not counting how many he has to take in order to make 1000. That right there is the reason why he is the player in the world right now.

I went to the boxing gym yesterday with the intention of making my right cross (the straight right hand punch), better. My right cross is my finishing punch. I throw it when I want to end a fight. Most of the time, when it lands, it changes the nature of the fight. My opponent has to change his entire game plan which gives me the advantage. I wanted to make it better, sharper and smoother. I want it to be so smooth that mu opponent doesn’t see it coming. I got to the gym, warmed up and worked on punching technique for nearly two hours. I wanted to throw hundreds of right hands in order to make it perfect. Nothing is ever perfect, but I want it to be as close to perfect as possible. By the end of the training session, it looked really good. It was sharp. I feel that a few more weeks of working on it in this manner would really make a huge difference.

Whatever it is that you want to do in life, lather, rinse, repeat will definitely get you close to greatness. It does not only work with exercise or sports. To get abs or to stay as a male model or just purely for health reasons, repetition speeds up the process of mastery. Reading, writing or even knitting are perfected by lather, rinse, repeat.  Give it a try.

VIOLA DAVIS, HER NATURAL HAIR AND HER OSCAR

Yesterday was quite a hectic day. I had to work on my documentary, it’s tax season, so I had to do some accounting, meet with a non-profit marketing specialist and then workout. As if all that were not enough, I had family coming into town. My mom, my aunt and my cousin were coming to NYC to hang with me for the weekend. It will be a lot of fun. I like having family in town because it helps keep me grounded. We speak Igbo, talk and hang out.

I came home last night and Oprah’s show was on. Oprah’s new show format is really interesting. She is not tied to a studio. All interviews are out in the field. She has some interviews, such as the one on ‘Red Tails’ at her home, and others in different locations. Genius!! After 25 years of being chained to a studio, I would want to get out and play too. People will always want to see Oprah talking to people forever, so she will continue do interviews. She still has the most interesting guests on her show. Last night was no exception. Viola Davis was being interviewed. She is nominated for an Oscar in the best actress category. I walked in and saw Viola on TV and I was extremely surprised. She had her natural hair out.

I had never seen her natural hair or seen her with short hair. I always knew that she was supremely talented as an artist. Meryl Streep acknowledged her talent in her Oscar acceptance for her work in the film ‘Doubt’, saying ‘….someone please give her (Viola Davis) a movie’. I never really paid attention to her looks because she was always covered up. I had never really seen her face ubtil her face until last night. In every film or TV show that I had ever seen her in, she always had a wig on her head and more importantly always looked dumpy. Viola, just like several black girls and women hide behind weaves, wigs and other hair attachments. I personally love natural hair. Short or bald, it doesn’t matter to me, just keep it natural. There is nothing sexier than a beautiful woman who is not afraid to show off her face. It is sometimes difficult to style or maintain natural hair, so it may be difficult to keep it natural at all times. I understand that, but keeping it natural every now and then, is beautiful and shows a sign of internal confidence.

Her natural her made her look so young and beautiful. She actually has a pretty face. I don’t know if she had been trying to dumb herself down all these years in her career. Now that she has finally received the acknowledgement for her talent, she probably is finally able to relax and let her natural hair come out. She doesn’t have to prove herself to anyone anymore. GO AHEAD VIOLA!!! LET YOUR NATURAL HAIR OUT!!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

It’s valentines day. Love or the intense desire to feel loved is in the air. There is no definitive origin of Valentine’s Day. It’s possible that it was a Roman fertility festival. Another legend assigns the holiday to commemorate St. Valentine, a Roman clergyman. St. Valentine was executed on February 14, about 270 AD, for marrying couples against the mandate of the emperor.

On this day, girls get chocolates and flowers, guys get electronics and sports tickets, stores make tons of money, restaurants make a killing, and everybody is happy! Condom sales are sky high and statistically, at-home pregnancy  test sales reach their zenith in the month following Valentine’s Day as the  consequences of all those romantic couplings are realized. I like valentines day because I believe that any day dedicated to love is one more day where we don’t think about hate and pain.

While most women consider Valentine’s Day to be a celebration of love and  intimacy, many men consider it nothing more than an artificial holiday cooked up  by the floral and greeting card industries. While the reality might rest  somewhere in between, a few interesting statistics prove that February 14 is a  significant day. However, exactly what makes it significant may surprise you.

Did You Know? * It’s estimated that 2.2 million couples get married each year. That stat came from a 2006 Census Bureau report, but they didn’t have any specific break down about percentage of engagements that take place on Valentine’s Day. I did run across one site that credited the Diamond Information Center with publishing a stat that approximately 10% of marriage proposals will happen on Valentine’s Day.

*Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular days to get engaged, but so is Christmas (figured that), Thanksgiving (surprise), New Year’s Eve (didn’t occur to me), and the bride-to-be’s birthday (I wouldn’t have thought of this one right off, but I have heard of that and it makes perfect sense).

*According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the most popular gift given to celebrate Valentine’s Day is greeting cards. (65%.)

*According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the gift used least to celebrate Valentine’s Day is jewelry. (Only 11%.)

*The United States isn’t the only country to celebrate Valentine’s Day. So does Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, and Australia.

*The first Valentine thought to ever be written dates back to 1415 when Charles, the Duke of Orleans, who was imprisoned in the Tower of London, sent a love letter to his wife. It even still exists. (As part of the British Library’s collection.)

*About 40% of the 180 million Valentine’s cards purchased will be done so by parents. (Now whether this is for their children or by people who have children wasn’t clear, which I thought made it an even more interesting statistic.)

*It’s estimated 15% of women will send themselves flowers on Valentine’s Day.

So armed with all this information, have a HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

PLAYING WITH FIRE

The past few weeks have been filled with moments of reflection. It reached a peak this weekend with the news of the passing of Whitney Houston. The 2012 Grammys had some great performances, LL Cool J did a great job as the host, but the undertone of sadness because of Whitney’s death was apparent. She was so beautiful, so talented, so passionate. So many artist’s lives have been ruined by drugs and alcohol. The subject of my blog today is the damage that drugs and alcohol do to not just the addict, but everyone that loves them.

It’s always so interesting to see people smoking in 2012, despite the fact that there is a ton of information which shows that cigarette smoking directly causes lung cancer and other respiratory diseases. Most of those people believe that it won’t happen to them. I even see doctors smoking. That sight is the most puzzling. Day in and day out, these doctors see people dying of lung cancer, but still they continue to smoke. “It won’t happen to me”, they say. When they are gone, it is their loved ones who are left behind to mourn and pay for their careless behaviour. The dead person is at peace. They have no more worries. Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown battled alcohol and drug abuse for nearly two decades. They have a young daughter who is now left without a mother to help her through the difficult teen years. If Bobby Brown does not clean up his act, she might be left an orphan.

I hear many people say that they will try anything at least once, but doing drugs is not bungee jumping or jumping out of a plane. They both offer extreme rushes, but bungee jumping and sky diving are controlled activities. There is no way to control how a person reacts to drugs. It takes just one try to get hooked on crystal meth. Crystal meth is the most addictive drug in the world.  After that first try, users require more and more of the drug to get that feeling again, and maintain it. Meth users have described this feeling as a sudden rush of pleasure lasting for several minutes, followed by a euphoric high that lasts between six and 12 hours, and it is the result of drug causing the brain to release excessive amounts of the chemical dopamine, a neurotransmitter that controls pleasure. All drugs of abuse cause the release of dopamine, even alcohol and nicotine, explains Rawson, “[But] methamphetamine produces the mother of all dopamine releases.”

For example, in lab experiments done on animals, sex causes dopamine levels to jump from 100 to 200 units, and cocaine causes them to spike to 350 units. “[With] methamphetamine you get a release from the base level to about 1,250 units, something that’s about 12 times as much of a release of dopamine as you get from food and sex and other pleasurable activities,” Rawson says. “This really doesn’t occur from any normally rewarding activity. That’s one of the reasons why people, when they take methamphetamine, report having this euphoric [feeling] that’s unlike anything they’ve ever experienced.” Then, when the drug wears off, users experience profound depression and feel the need to keep taking the drug to avoid the crash.

Cocaine, crack and crystal meth ruin so many lives. Families have been shattered due to these drugs. Multi-million dollar businesses have been destroyed by crack and crystal meth. Many people think that it’s only people in the projects or in trailer parks that do meth, but that’s very far from the truth. Highly educated and successful professionals are slaves to these drugs as well. These drugs do not descriminate. Several surgeons do crystal meth and then go into the operating room. It makes them feel like superman and they can stay awake for several hours, doing countless surgeries. God help us all!!! So many of these meth addicted surgeons have gone to jail, lost their licences or both.

Doing drugs is not bungee jumping or jumping out of a plane. Are you playing with fire?

WHERE WERE YOU WHEN YOU HEARD THAT WHITNEY HOUSTON IS DEAD?

I was in shock when I heard the news that Whitney Houston had died. I was at dinner with friends when I heard the news. We all saw it on a gossip website. People die all the etime, but it hits us hard when extremely gifted people die. The rarity of these types of individuals makes their loss painful, because there is no telling when, if ever, we will see such talent again.

People such as Whitney Houston are not built for this world. They are just not strong enough. Many gifted artists such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Amy Winehouse are not built for this world. They are able to create such amazing music because they are so sensitive. They are born this way and have the ability to connect with our deepest emotion. This world is a cold, harsh place and many of these artists are not built with the fortitude to handle it. We will miss Whitney.

I remember having such a crush on Whitney Houston when I was young boy growing up in Nigeria. We watched all her music videos, listened to all her songs and then, ‘The Bodyguard’ with Kevin Costner came out. I must have have watched that movie 10 times. She was our icon of beauty and talent. The Bodyguard soundtrack is one of the best albums of all time. Every single song on that soundtrack was amazing which led it to become one of the highest selling albums of all time. What a year it’s been. So much loss. So many pioneers gone. Where were you when you heard the news? Where were you when you heard that Whitney Houston is dead?
