I arrived in Nigeria yesterday afternoon and hit the ground running. I’m happy that I came to Nigeria back so quickly because this time, I don’t feel like a stranger in my own home. It was nice and warm. Just the way I love it. I wanted to head over to the closest pounded yam spot, but I had to pace myself. I can’t allow myself to eat as much as I did the last time I was in Nigeria. Back then, I ate as though pounded yam was going out of style. Besides, yesterday, we had work to do.

Right from the airport, we had to run to the hotel and then a couple of meetings set up with the film crew and PR team. This trip is strictly about the kids. We’ll be following the kids and getting to know their true life stories. I need to find out what exactly the obstacles are in their path in order to truly help them become successful.

I had a rude welcome home on the treadmill this morning. I planned on doing some sprints before my meeting this morning, but was cut short. I got on the treadmill and warmed up. Unfortunately, right after my first sprint, the power in the hotel went out!! I was reminded that I was back home. Damn you NEPA!!! NEPA is the power company in Nigeria. Extremely unreliable. That’s just the way it is.

Please stay tuned to my blog and I will keep you posted on my trip. It’s always an interesting…
