NIGERIAN ARRESTED FOR STEALING A DEAD MAN’S IDENTITY FOR SECURITY JOB IN THE USA

Who is at fault here? The man who committed the crime or the department that did not catch it? How did this happen? I would assume that in order to obtain job, a rigorous background check would be carried out. This man, BIMBO OLUMUYIWA OYEWOLE was arrested for using the identity of a dead man, JERRY THOMAS to obtain a job as a top security officer at the international airport in Newark,  New Jersey.

This security breach of the highest order was uncovered at Newark Liberty Airport, NEW JERSEY on Monday. I live in New York and have flown out of this airport several times. How secure does news like this make me feel? If this man could do this, anyone can do it. Get it….ANYONE!!!

BIMBO OLUMUYIWA OYEWOLE is a 54- year-old illegal immigrant from NIGERIA. His co-workers claimed they knew him as Jerry Thomas. During investigation, it was uncovered that Bimbo, somehow obtained the birth certificate and Social Security number of a man murdered in Queens in 1992. He then used them to obtain a New Jersey State driver’s license, a state security guard license, airport ID Card and credit cards. While working as a security official in Newark, Bimbo had access to the tarmac and passenger planes without ever being detected, officials said.

At the time of his arrest he supervised 30 other guards. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says he had worked at Newark’s Liberty airport for about 20 years and had passed background checks. He had also worked under several contractors at the airport, most recently FJC Security Services. BIMBO OLUMUYIWA OYEWOLE has since been charged.

CHA CHING!! “THE AVENGERS” TOPS $1 BILLION AT THE BOX OFFICE

In just 19 days, flying faster the speed of a speeding bullet,  ”The Avengers”  has reached the billion-dollar mark at the box office. The superhero blockbuster took in $103.2 million to lead for a second-straight weekend, raising its domestic total to $373.2 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The Avengers” was the first movie ever to pull in more than $100 million domestically in its second weekend, passing the previous best of $75.6 million for “Avatar.” The film also topped $300 million domestically Saturday after just nine days in release, beating the previous record set by “The Dark Knight,” which hit that mark in 10 days.

Already the year’s biggest hit worldwide, “The Avengers” is on the verge of passing “The Hunger Games” at $386.9 million to become the top-grossing film domestically for 2012.

With $95.4 million more overseas, “The Avengers” lifted its international receipts to $628.9 million and a worldwide haul of just over $1 billion, only 19 days after it began rolling out in some markets.

“You never think that it can happen this quickly,” said Dave Hollis, head of distribution for Disney, whose Marvel Studios unit produced the ensemble film after a long buildup in its solo superhero outings. “You hope you can get to this day, and the fact that it is happening this early is a testament to a lot of work that went in on the Marvel side over the last six years to get us to a place where people wanted to see the Avengers assemble.”

Revenue for “The Avengers” was off just 50 percent from the film’s domestic debut of $207.4 million the previous weekend, a remarkable hold given how big it started.

NIGERIAN LAWYER OKORIE OKOROCHA TAKES ON BIG HOLLYWOOD AND JOHN TRAVOLTA

He is up against one of the most famous lawyers in the United States. Marty Singer has represented countless stars, including A-listers Bruce Willis, Jim Carrey, Celine Dion, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is the guy you go to if you need a good lawyer for the stars (and can afford one) although it is safe to say that he has never had a case quite like this one.

In fact Travolta’s lawyer is already threatening to counter-sue Okorie Okorocha and the two clients who raised the allegations against John for bringing (they say) phony allegations to court:

“The problem in America is anyone can sue anyone. However, in this case this unidentified plaintiff [John Doe] and his lawyer will regret they filed this fabricated suit. We intend to sue both of them for malicious prosecution.”

But Okorocha has come back swinging for the fences:

“If Marty Singer thinks he can sue me on the validity of Mr. Travolta’s denials, and if he wants to file the lawsuit now, I will give him a waiver allowing him to proceed with it at this stage of the case, even though under California law he has to wait until he wins the case, and that absolutely won’t be happening. It will never happen, he won’t win, so we might as well get it over with now. Bring it on.”

Bring it on, indeed. So who is this David among lawyers, Okorie Okorocha?

Biography: He is a sexual harassment and employment discrimination attorney located in Pasadena, California, which is located in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. He works on sexual discrimination cases and other matters for a law firm that he partners with his brother. You can find it through their Twitter page here. As you can see, both of them could benefit from a visit to a hair-club for men.

Although he takes sexual harassment cases such as the massage scandal, Okorocha is mainly known for expertise in drunk driving cases. He has taken many DUI cases to trial, and won them, and is in fact a member of the California DUI Lawyers Association and an expert witness on the subject. You can see him strutting his stuff in the video below.

Okorie Okorocha has a bachelor of arts degree in 1999 from California State University, Northridge campus and a law degree from Whittier College in 2002. Neither of these are top of the line, but who needs gravitas when you are willing to go tooth and nail with the elite lawyersin the country.

By the way, Okorie is studying to obtain a master’s degree in forensic science from the University of Florida. That must be an on-line program because he can’t very well attend classes in Florida when he is practicing law in California.

According to his public profile, which you can find here, Okorie has nine years of litigation experience and he mentions spending more time in the courtroom that most other lawyers. He bills himself as California’s “most aggressive and prolific trial lawyer.”

That doesn’t bode well for Travolta. Usually the Hollywood stars want these things to go away quickly and quietly.

I really love the photo of the dashing looking Mr. Okorocha and his brother sitting between three lawyerly women with their hands on him. These gals are the sweet part of his legal team, accomplished attorneys in their own right.

So that is what we know about the John Travolta massage scandal lawyer. He is up against a Hollywood bigshot with a bigshot attorney, but Okorie Okorocha and his team is not shrinking from the fight.

AFTER RED TAILS, GEORGE LUCAS DOES SOMETHING AWESOME….AGAIN

Just when you thought that George Lucas had done it all. He does it all over again. George Lucas is master of proving people wrong. He did it with Star Wars, which was so far ahead of it’s time that film bosses believed that it will fail. It did not. He then decided to make a film about the Tuskegee Airmen with an all black cast. Once again, the film suits told him that films with all black casts do not make money. George made the film with his own money and it made tons of money. You go George!!!!

Now George Lucas is ruffling feathers once again. George Lucas has long wanted to build a massive studio complex on his posh property near San Francisco, but has been foiled by his Marin County neighbors for 25 years, even as subdivisions have gone up around him. Now he’s fighting fire with fire, giving up on his dream and instead building low-income housing on the property. We know — it’s pretty sweet. In the exquisitely titled article, “George Lucas Does Something Likeable For a Change,” Peter Hall nails it: “If there’s one thing rich people will hate more than having movie magic made in their backyard, it’s poor people moving in.”

NEWSWEEK COVER DECLARES OBAMA ‘THE FIRST GAY PRESIDENT’

Four days after President Barack Obama affirmed his support of gay marriage on Good Morning America, the editors at Newsweek are ready to anoint him with a new title, “The First Gay President.”

At least, that’s what it will say on the cover of magazine’s May 21 issue, which is available on iPad today and will be on newsstands Monday.

The cover shows a close-up portrait of the president with a rainbow-colored halo over his head, the colors referencing symbols adopted by the LGBT movement. The cover advertises an upcoming piece by Newsweek writer Andrew Sullivan in support of Obama’s record with the gay community.

Newsweek has released this preview of the article:

It’s easy to write off President Obama’s announcement of his support for gay marriage as a political ploy during an election year. But don’t believe the cynics. Andrew Sullivan argues that this announcement has been in the making for years. “When you step back a little and assess the record of Obama on gay rights, you see, in fact, that this was not an aberration. It was an inevitable culmination of three years of work.” And President Obama has much in common with the gay community. “He had to discover his black identity and then reconcile it with his white family, just as gays discover their homosexual identity and then have to reconcile it with their heterosexual family,” Sullivan writes.

The move comes mere days after Newsweek’s competitor Time Magazine offered a controversial cover of their own, depicting a young mother breast feeding her 3-year-old boy. A Newsweek spokesman would later tell the New York Post that when their Editor-In-Chief Tina Brown saw the cover she responded, “Let the games begin.”

Newsweek’s cover may be designed to elicit the memory of another White House occupant with a not-so-fitting title. Supporters of then-President Bill Clinton dubbed him the “first black president” for his work with the African American community. The term was first used by author Toni Morrison in a 1998 issue of The New Yorker.

BARACK OBAMA HAS EIGHT BALLS!

Yes, BARACK OBAMA HAS EIGHT BALLS!! I know that that yesterday was Sunday, a day of worship. I know that yesterday was mother’s day, a day in the presence of mother. How dare I say the word “balls” in the presence of mother?! I also know that the title of this blog may ruffle some feathers because we just woke up from of day in church with mother. I know all that, but I can’t ignore that Barack Obama has eight big balls!!

Many people have balls, but very few have the number of balls needed to make the decision to support gay marriage. Why is this is such big deal, you may ask? The reason why this is such a big deal is the fact that Barack, The President of the United States, went against the beliefs of the Black Church. The Black Church is a major power player when it comes to the Black vote. The Black Churches control the Black Vote and the majority of the Black churches do not support gay marriage. I give him so much credit for stepping up and making the decision to change the thinking and beliefs of Black people in America. That is the what a leader does. That is what the leader of the free world is supposed to do….LEAD!!

Some people wonder if the black church will punish President Barack Obama for announcing support for same-sex marriage.

It’s so unfortunate,” says James Cone, author of “The Cross and the Lynching Tree.” “The literal approach to scripture was used to enslave black people,” he says. “I’ve said many times in black churches that the black church is on the wrong side of history on this. It’s so sad because they were on the right side of history in their own struggle.” Call it historical irony: Black church leaders arguing against same-sex marriage are making some of the same arguments that supporters of slavery made in the 18th and 19th centuries, some historians say. Both groups adopted a literal reading of the Bible to justify withholding basic rights from a particular group.

Opposition to gay rights is not the standard position of all black churches. Still, while several predominately white mainline denominations have officially accepted gays and lesbians in various forms, the vast majority of black churches still consider homosexuality a sin.

HOW DOES THIS PICTURE MAKE YOU FEEL?

How does this picture of the greatest fighter of all time, Muhammad Ali, make you feel? How does this quote make you feel? You’ll be amazed at the responses I got when I asked this question. Some people told me that it makes them tired just looking at the picture. Whaaaaaaaaaat? I couldn’t understand why anyone would say that, so I delved deeper. I then found out that when these people looked at this picture, they saw how much work and pain it would take to become a champion and it just made them tired. It made them exhausted. I’m learning not to judge, I don’t understand how anyone would not be motivated by this picture and story, but to each their own.

Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.

When I see this picture and the quote on it, it makes want to get up and do something. It doesn’t just make me want to get up and put forth the hardest work out ever; it inspires me to work hard at everything I do. I think about the fact that Muhammad Ali suffered so much in his life, physically and emotionally, to reach his goal of becoming the Greatest ever! To become the greatest ever at anything takes a great deal of sacrifice, suffering and pain. He gave up his championship belt because he didn’t believe in the Vietnam war. He was broke, but he seffered and rose again, to the top. Looking at this picture gives me hope in the future. Looking at this picture makes me fee that all my hard work will go in vain.

How does it make you feel?

LAKERS GAME+SLOPPY WET KISSES+GOOGLEY EYES=PAPARAZZI!

There must be something in the air at Lakers games that makes couples hot and heavy. Tons of couples, just like a flash mob, spontaneously engage in PDAs. Public Displays of Affection. They engage in sloppy wet, eating-each-other’s-faces kind of kisses and get all googley eyed. It’s like a crazy chain reaction…but is it? Maybe it’s for the cameras…PAPARAZZI!!!!!

MY MOM GAVE UP SO MUCH FOR ME: HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MOM!!!

I woke up this morning in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was raining hard. I thought that our flight would be delayed because it was raining so hard. As I sat there, staring out of the windows, I thought of my mom. I didn’t go home for mother’s day because I had to attend a funeral in Ohio. I know that she would have wanted me there. I know that she would have loved to cook my favorite pounded yam and egusi soup for me. I felt badly about that.

My mom gave up so much for me. I was so sick for most of my childhood. I was in and out of hospitals for that time. She was always with me at home on in my hospital room. She put her career on hold in order to make sure that she spent time with me. She supported me. She inspired me. I get my strength from my mom. My mom is an independent, strong, hard working woman and I know that it must have been very hard for give up her career for me. That is pure, unadulterated LOVE!

I LOVE YOU MOM!! HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!!

THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD IS ON THEIR SHOULDERS!

I saw this cover of Newsweek magazine yesterday and thought that it was funny and scary at the same time. The baby looks so excited to enjoy his or her french fries…mmmmmm…tasty!! It looks like the baby is holding on to a check for 1 Million dollars!!

Even though the baby in this picture is white, blonde haired and blue eyed, this condition affects all of us. It affects Africans, Americans, Asians….every single one of us.

We have a social duty to educate each other. We have a duty to educate our children. This is a real problem for our generation. Together we can make a difference.

Lets do it

WHAT MAN CAN DO, WOMAN CAN DO BETTER: NIGERIAN WOMAN SETS WORLD RECORD IN HEROINE SWALLOW CAUGHT AT AIRPORT

THE DREAM OF MERCEDES, HOUSE IN LEKKI, OWAMBE PARTY IS OVER FOR BOLA!!

A Nigerian woman, Bola Adebisi, set an unenviable world record for amount of ingested heroin ever recovered when she tried to smuggle five pounds of heroin in 180 pellets into the U.S. The previous record, set by a Nigerian man, was four pounds of heroin ingested in 100 pellets.

Airport authorities at the Dulles International Airport, say that 52-year-old Bola Adebisi ingested an incredible 180 thumb-sized pellets filled with heroin. Airport officers became suspicious when she was questioned after arriving on  Ethiopian Airlines flight 500 from Adis Ababa.
Adebisi claimed she was visiting her brother in the U.S., but she was unable give details of her “brother” and his address. A routine pat-down showed that her belly was suspiciously rigid, and an X-ray revealed to astonished officials that she had in her stomach 180 thumb-sized pellets with a total weight of five pounds.

Steve Sapp of the Customs and Border Protection, said: “We were kind of shocked and surprised at the sheer number of pellets she ingested. We usually see men twice her size ingest about half of what she did.”

According to International Business Times, Adebisi broke a previous record for ingested drugs set on March 30, 2011, by another Nigerian man,

46-year-old Yomade Aborishade of Lagos, Nigeria, who was arrested for ingesting four pounds of heroin in 100 pellets.

The lady was taken to the hospital where overnight, she passed out all the pellets containing heroin worth an estimated 150,000 pounds.

Christopher Hess, director of Customs and Border Patrol for Washington D.C. said: “The amount of pellets and heroin this woman ingested is incredible, a serious health risk, and very troubling if these numbers become the new normal.”
Authorities say drug mules often attempt to smuggle heroin and cocaine, and sometimes ecstasy by swallowing latex balloons, often condoms or fingers of latex gloves or other special pellets filled with the drugs and later recovered from feces. It is a medically dangerous way of smuggling small amounts of drugs and a mule can die if a packet bursts or leaks before exiting the body. Statistics from 2003 show over 50% of foreign females in UK jails were drug mules from Jamaica, with Nigerian women making a large contribution to the balance.

Adebisi, according to MSNBC, will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

THE NEW FACE OF TERROR…WHAAAAAT!!!!

I fly a lot and never get frustrated when there are delays because of security checks. The more security checks the better. I just don’t think that you can ever be too safe. But in this case, I have to say….come on!!!!

The girl in the picture to the right is Riyanna is an 18-month-old from New Jersey. She was pulled off a JetBlue flight Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale because officials mistakenly said she was on the no-fly list.

A toddler yanked off a Newark-bound flight as a security threat had been clear for takeoff, at least when crosschecked against the so-called federal “no-fly” list, a spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration said.

JetBlue representatives, though, nevertheless thought something was amiss and pulled 18-month-old Riyanna and her parents from Flight 510, bound from Fort Lauderdale International Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport Tuesday.

“A customer’s boarding pass was flagged in our system as being on the No Fly list,” according to a statement issued by the airline this morning.

Although children traveling on an adult’s lap are not issued their own boarding passes, but instead have their name included on the adult’s boarding pass, “It was that name” – meaning Riyanna – that was flagged as potentially being on a no-fly list, said an airline spokeswoman, Tamara Young.

But a spokeswoman for the federal Transportation Security Administration, which vets passengers when they purchase airline tickets, says it “did not flag” the 18-month-old, meaning that Riyanna – whose parents declined to be identified – could fly.

Riyanna’s parents are of Middle-Eastern heritage but American-born. Her mother wears a hijab, a traditional head scarf worn by some Muslim women.

TSA clears the issuance of boarding passes by an airline after a crosschecking names on a government watch list, which includes the so-called no-fly list, the agency’s spokeswoman, Lisa Farbstein, said this morning.

“TSA was called to the gate by the airline and after talking to the parents and confirming through our vetting system, TSA determined the airline had mistakenly indicated the child was on a government watch list,” Farbstein said. “Individuals on the no-fly list do not get boarding passes, and the child had a boarding pass.”

But Young, the JetBlue spokeswoman, said the airline has “redundant systems” in place that can help it identify passengers who could pose a security risk.

“When uncertainty arises, we err on the side of caution, follow protocol and do not assume,” she said.

The airline, though, has not yet said detailed what sort of name lists, if any, it has access to.

Airlines, though, do not have access to the no-fly list, the TSA said.

CHECK OUT MY INTERVIEW ON THE MONIQUE SHOW: THE BIRTH OF MY CHARITY IN NIGERIA

It seems like yesterday that I had the dream to start my charity. This video below started it all. I spoke to Monique about my dream on her show and that set the ball rolling. I always knew that boxing was a gift that was given to me in this life. I also knew that it was important for me to use that gift to change the lives of kids in Nigeria. I’m the classic procrastinator and starting my charity was no different. I kept putting it off. It wasn’t until my brother, Ogbogu, passed away that I got my act together.

Losing someone that close to you puts everything in perspective. None of the little things matter anymore. It forces you to focus on the important things in life. I realized that my time on earth could be up at any time. I could be gone tomorrow. I could even be gone today. Once I came back ffom London after the funeral, I went right to work and started putting things in motion for my charity in Nigeria. A few months later, Champion Spirit Foundation was born. This will be my legacy. When I’m gone, Champion Spirit Foundation will live on.

Check out the video that started it all.
